What would U do

Recommended Posts

OK, here's the deal. I have been living / working in Kuwait for the last year. It's not the greatest place to live / work but hey it pays about 3 years bills in 1. So the question is, if you could have one vacation never to be equaled, what would you do? The rules are you can't go to a country that is off limits to US citizens. Your air fare is paid for. And you have 3500 bucks to play with. What would you do. By the way, I was a bomb tech in the Navy for five years and of course now I'm a skydiver so think hard cause I might have done it already.

Oh man, that's a hard one because there are so many exotic & interesting places to go in this world: Africa, Australia, Asia.
If I had to pick one country, I would probably have to say China. There is so much culture & history there, and being into Eastern culture & philosophy it would be a pilgrimage or sorts for me.
A very close second would be Australia. No language barrier. I'd love to explore the outback. Plus there's the Great Barrier Reef to scuba. I'm sure I could squeeze a sydive or three in as well. ;)
If I wasn't limited I'd tour China, Japan, Thailand, India, Australia, do an African Safari, & then hit Israel & Egypt.

Ohh Yah I have to add you have to do it all in two weeks. I have been to Australia already and am going back in Feb. I'll be doing some scuba while i'm there. And I'll be in AU for the Exinox boogie a Ramblers. So any other place but AU. China sounds good. It's definetly not one of those places you just go to. OK on another note. What kind of thing have you found to do. You can put in any links or thing like that. Might as well use the power of the internet. So where else are we gonna go?

Not specificaly a skydiving trip. It would be good to get a jump or two in. And the cannibis cup is the last part of Oct. to the first of Nov. so thats out. I keep having to add stipulations. The trip is between June, July, or Aug.
Keep em coming.

You havent been to my house. I could show you around and you could jump with with the rest of us Sangrio worshipers.
If you tip heavily, I will heat the pool. If I dont blow myself up fixing the gas leak I found the other night. I was lighting the pilot light to fire up the jacuzzi. Night is the best time to find gas leaks, just a tip. Its a little one. I think I shouldnt solder it, but use something non-flamable. ...?Bubble gum?

If you want a tip here's one -don't pet a burning dog- You should really call some one about a gas leak though. My brother lives in Dallas and did his first tandem about a month ago. He works in Houston all the time. I'll forward your contact info to him and mabey you can talk him into some skydives He really was bad in the air (no arch) but at least he had a smile. And what do you expect for a 10 min. ground school.

Personaly I would go to Khatmandu, Nepal...I have been there 5 times and can NOT get enough of the place...if you have three weeks you could do a couple of the trekking peaks there...maybe two weeks you could do it depending on how well you get used to altitude...I have done quite a few up there...Nepal is great for eastern philosaphie peeps like myselfe...very mystical in many ways...and the Himalayas will leave you with dirt marks on your chin as it bounces off the floor from WOW factor....yeah....
one other place you might want to go to is New Zealand...I lived in Hamilton for about a year working as a flight paramedic...it is an adventurous persons wonderland.....I used to surf in the morning (with tons of dolphins around) and snow board in the afternoon...man I love that place....this place...just like Nepal...postcards just do not do it justice...and WOW factor is always there in many ways....to see that a some higher power was at work in amazing ways....beauty that just doesnt quit..and then some....
adios....amigo...plus if ya like Rugby..NZ is the place to be...and June, July, August would be perfect for that....

Well, you can climb in both countries...lots of good climbing in both countries...obviously I am a mountaineer...I am not really a fan of rock climbing but I love a good technical Ice climb...alot of the "Trekking Peaks" are ALOT harder than the name implies...alot of them are very technical...at least in Nepal...now on the southern island of NZ you have alot of better choices for beginning mountaineering....and safer...the problem with Nepal...is 1. it is a gamble as to weather you can handle the altitude...even people that come from basicly sea level and are really healthy there physicology just can't get along with it...even in the "relatively" lower altitude of Khatmandu...
with New Zealand...even the top of there highest peak (Mt.Cook) is lower than the city of Khatmandu....
so All in all if you aren't used to altitude I would say go to NZ south island...Christchurch...you will have more choices of what to do than anywhere...
now as far as travel companies or contacts...When I went to Nepal it was for work...so I tended to get to know the locals and use there support and sherpa network for help and guidance....plus alot of reading and studying...so I can't really guide you in that regard...sorry...
In NZ you have a huge choice of people to go to...even if you just hopped a plane there...(Auckland) then hopped an Ansett flight down to christ church..when you get into your hotel they have a ton of "adventure" stores and guideservices...even helicopter skiing snowboarding....and climbing with helicopter service...I even did a cool hunting/fishing trip called the 2/2/2
I bagged two Blue Marlin off the coast of NZ, then was flown by helicopter to hunt for two Red Dear..got those then went to Lake Taupo....and caught two of the biggest stinkin trout I have ever scene in my life...the thing it though I did all this in less than 24 hours....awesome day...and a ton of fun..if your into that, that is...

:D You might want to wait a bit to go to Nepal......It's those pesky Moaist rebels shooting everyone that can put a real damper on your vacation. Unless you plan on packing some Kevlar underwear and your favorite semi-auto rifle. It could be fun. The hunting seems to be really good right now. :)I'd check out the Phillipines. A bizillion things to do and they all cost less than a dollar! Beach, mountains, hottie chics, scuba, JUMPING, volcanoes, and it's fairly safe. Just stay off of Mindinau! It's that pesky communist rebel thing again......:D

Take that $3500 and invest in a Custom Remington 700, a good scope and some match grade ammo and take a nice vacation in good ol' Afganistan. I hear there's a $25,000,000 reward for that bastard's head...

His Holyness is not in Nepal...He is in India....but there are some absolutely beautifull temples near the namchee bazaare.....and I have been over into Tibet...I attempted Cho Oyu....It was gonna be my first 8,000 meter peak...then I got about half way up and got pulmonary edema big time...had to get hauled out by sleigh....but got all better once I got down to a relatively lower altitude of 22,000....:)Marc
