sangiro 25 #1 October 23, 2001 Heya guys,So, a "gentleman" called Mike Sparks wrote me some feedback on the article on Personal Parachutes: The Ethics of Safety currently on the home page. Just so you know, I explicitly told him that I considered our conversation as public and reserve the right to publish it to my site. Anyway, I have now gotten bored with his chit-chat and thought I'd share it with you guys in case some of you want to email him. DynmicPara@aol.comAnd here's his sad story....QuoteI read your story posted on BEPs and it makes me want to puke.Any excuse to not save lives and preserve skydiver BS ego, huh?I bet you that if everyone that jumped from the WTC had a static-line BEP, all of them would have lived.@#$k you for being so narrow minded!Mike Sparks ...at which point I reminded him that as in all free societies there are likely to be folks who disagree with him, congratulated him with his fine vocabulary and command of the English language and reminded him to take his Prozac. He then followed with...QuoteDon't forget to look in the mirror! You will see an @@#shole named Sangiro who puts his skydiver agenda before saving human lives. Cyanide is the only pill for you! PhillyKev 0 #2 October 23, 2001 I love turning people's words around on them....so let's see if I can interpret what he really meant. My edits are in italics:-------------------------------------------------------------------------------I read your story posted on BEPs and it makes me want to puke.Any excuse to not capitalize on a tragic event in a selfish and irresponsible manner, huh?I bet you that if even one person that jumped from the WTC had a static-line BEP, and lived, I could sell a million of these.@#$k you for posting a 3rd party article that might effect my bottom line!not reallyMike Sparks --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Don't forget to look in the mirror! wildblue 7 #3 October 23, 2001 We still love ya boss..... I'm guessing he works for a company trying to sell those things. flyinryan 0 #4 October 23, 2001 "skydiver BS ego"...just cause we are better than whuffo's does not mean that we have big egos. I actually read your article and find it to be very interesting. I was original for the idea of a building escape parachute but the MANY responses on this site have changed my mind. That and watching Tandem videos at our DZ. Even with someone attached to them people still freeze. Now what happens when they are not attached to someone, the building is on fire, and some of their friends are dying. Think they might freeze in the window? Even if they don't, think they are gonna PLF on landing? Whaever, this Mike dude is a dick and we should not waste our time on him. Sangiro I hope you do not feel too tramatized 'cause you da man.
skybytch 273 #5 October 23, 2001 I'm real impressed with his presentation of his case. He must have done a lot of research to be able to prove his points so masterfully. And just look at his credentials... he obviously has lots of real life building jumping experience to back up his claims. Yup, I'd be worried if I were you, boss man. Oh, btw, that's a fantastic article. Kudos to Heather Sinclair for a well researched and well written view on the situation. pull and flare, lisa
airann 1 #6 October 23, 2001 WTF.....People... you just never know.... this agenda -that agenda.Motivation for this vial note is misunderstood by this writer. Sangrio, more power to you on posting up some -not too great replys. Sometimes, I just want to forget about the ones I get. They are so full of hate. I swooped in on Wreck Dot and they massiCured me of that place. Talk about changing a persons words up. Jeeze, scared the hell outta me, then I got hit with viruses out the wazoo. And yes, a virus can attack a web page. It takes some doing but the scumbag/s who did it were very clever. The AirAnn Virus. A modified SirCam and a Win32 something. Killed directly my AirAnn files and etc. If you know anything about files to FTP sites and vise versa and viruses on threads, it can happen. However, I was told that none of this could happen and that I dreamed it all up cause I was on drugs for my broken leg. I would love to be able to tell you how you CAN do it. But then criminals would go and do it. I am sure the Anarchiest Cookbook has it in there by now. Oh Hell yeah, I wrote back. They said I was too sensative. "How could I be a skydiver and be sensative." Is one quote. I spelled that wrong? Well, I would be massiCured in Wreck Dot for that. Anyway, all that happened. Then it carried over to the DZ and I got chewed out there for something I did not say. It was freakin ugly. To this day, people think what they will, and its wrong. Not my prob. That is why I love this forum. I can be myself and mess up or say whatever and not get hammered too badly. At the time, I took into consideration that some posters on Wreck Dot took advantage of the situation to further their own cause. The ALF #s. If you dont know what those are - They are Annoying Little F..k #s given to the most pain in the ass posters. They get down and dirty and attack whoever they feel like. This futhers their cause. And eventually gets them a #. Example: Espen- ALF #1, is a friend of mine and is not really an ALF, but those who come after- I can not vouch for nor do I know them. So anyway, sometimes its just another day in Paradise. This too shall pass - Remedy for this one I suggest Prunes.LOLOn another note, Sangrio I know you LOVE ass posts so for those who hate everything I write and in support of my brother Sangrio - Kiss this attachment!Skydive~Friends~HappinessAirAnnhttp://www.AirAnn.com

mountainman 0 #8 October 23, 2001 Great job on keeping your cool and, like always, coming out as the smarter, wittier of the two. I dont know how some of you do it, but you always seem to get the best of people, even though they are the ones who thing they are right. (I know this from being on THAT side of the fence.Anyway, I feel the need to send some a$$hole a little message so I can tell him what I think about his letters. Kelly 0 #14 October 23, 2001 sangiro, why dont you invite him into our thread regarding this matter. He would have no idea whats coming to him. you know that your little skydivers here would teach him a lesson or two. if he shows up, do we have permission to bite back? lol kel"i can not attest to what i did, just what i remember...."~me, after one too many
lewmonst 0 #15 October 23, 2001 all the skydivers know better, sangiro, we're with you on this one, and Heather, btw, good article. It's quite dissapointing to see the BASE gear companies trying to sell this equipment... this may be far fetched, but it's analogous to a personal gun. Many people buy them for safety, and then end up getting shot by their own gun. I think any whuffo with a base rig, might jump in panic when their chances of surviving in a building taking the stairs are probably higher than if they try to make a Base jump without any canopy control experience.if you live in fear, you are already deadlew
mountainman 0 #16 October 23, 2001 LEW....I couldn't have said it any better. You hit the nail on the head and said it how it should be. That would be like giving me a plane to fly out of a crisis. I would just look at all the buttons and say "uhhh". If you dont know what the hell you're doing, you are probably just going to kill yourself.--------------Brandon Wren

bill2 0 #18 October 23, 2001 Pretty pathetic, trying to make money off of a situation like this, as well as sounding like an out of control asshole. flyinryan 0 #19 October 23, 2001 okay we all agree that Mike=Tool, BUT he has a right to be a tool. We have to be carefull to relize that he is a tool because he would not listen to the other side of the argument. If you look at the survey it sugest that P think the parachute is a good idea. I did at first myself, although after seeing both sides I now think they are not so good. I also think WITH TRAINING they could work. On Cesna loads our pilots wear parachutes and no one worries that they will use their parachte improperly BECAUSE THEY ARE TRAINED. So in closeing Mike=Tool. Building Escape Parachet = Bad idea that could be improved. And puppies are good. So if you disagree with me you hate puppies.
