First Boogie at Skydive Naples

Recommended Posts

I am newcomer in this sport and I am going to attend to my first boogie at Skydive Naples. I read and heard that boogies are fun and are opportunities to meet skydivers from other dropzones. There will be a Westwind plane that goes to 14,000 feet in 10 minutes and cessna. I look forward to seeing/meeting you at Skydive Naples on Nov. 16, 17 and 18 for my first boogie to have a lot of fun.
I hope to attend to more boogies in the future!!!

The Westwind carries 14 passengers and there will possibly be two Cessna's and Alex is working on a HELICOPTER!!!! Whether your into RW or VRW this is a great dropzone with a huge landing area. Definetly the friendliest dropzone where there are no skygod's. The experienced jumpers are willing to jump with anybody who is there!

I'm looking forward to being in Imokalee for the boogie. I've never been to a boogie, and have heard some great things about the people who come to visit and hang out for the weekend. Can't wait to jump out of a plane bigger than a C-182!!! Hope to see you all there!!

The Westwind is stationed in Arkansas during the summer. It is currently getting a new coat of paint. It will arrive at Skydive Naples for the opening boogie. Also, don't forget the "Turkey Mee(a)t Pot Luck Party" with Baton Pass and accuracy contest" on November 24th & 25th. One experienced and one novice jumper per team.

The Staybridge is a nice place(I stay there often), but isn't it a bit far from the DZ? 30-45 minutes, I'd guess..

Medic, according to the USPA you should have at least your C licence and PROPER water training. You will also need a personal inflation unit since you are going to be over water. Jumping without this unit is in DIRECT violation of the BSR's
Crosswind landing experience would be nice too unless you want to land the short way on the beach. Landing into the wind will probally mean landing towards or away from the water.
A rainy day at the DZ is better then a Sunny day at work

I am new to the sport...I started last November in Atlanta and moved here in February. However, we are completing the water training next week and we will be beach jumping soon. I believe the requirements are a "B" License although I could be wrong.

I'm gonna try to make it down there for that boogie - if nothing else, just for a change of pace.. I think it'll be a good time.. Maybe if I can get a night jump at Atlanta Freeflight(it'll be a full moon that weekend, too) I'll even have my D before the Naples thing..
As for the Staybridge being close to the beach landings....yea, that's great, as long as you don't have anything you need(like, oh, let's say a car) out at the DZ.. ;)

Mike,
Call Alex at the dz to discuss the possibilities of a beach jump if you are interested. We have not done one yet but if you or anyone else meet the USPA and his dz requirements he might arrange one if enough people are interested. I want to make it clear that I was making a suggestion and the beach jumps have not been arranged but if you or anyone else is interested contact him. It is going to be a great weekend no matter what.
As for the hotel, there are not many around Immokalee and Naples is about 30 minutes away. A lot of jumpers stay here and we hang out at the Chickee Bar at night.
Hope you make it down and look me up for a jump!
Nathan

So with all this talk of beach jumping and what it takes, I am starting to wonder if anyone knows what else is going on there in a couple of weeks. I heard there are going to be some accuracy contests, maybe a relay or two, and a lot of fun at the DZ itself. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm driving over from Miami for at least one day of it....maybe even a couple of days. It's only about an hour and a half drive....not to bad. I've done it before, and will do it many more times. I definitely think the drive is worth it for the type of people we'll be jumping with....
See ya all there!!

Yep, when I picked my new rig up from Roy (go ahead, try find someone who gives you a better deal, you won't) I spent the weekend there and jumped with the locals. They make jumping from a Caravan feel like a C 182. I don't mean smelly and crowded, I mean everybodies really friendly and they try to get newbies and low-timers involved too.
Roy, his brother Terry, Alex, they're all really friendly, good people.
