FallinWoman 1 #1 October 29, 2001 So I should be done for a while!!1. Cutaway a month ago.2. Premature deployment while in a flat spin at 6000' last week3. Passed out in plane!!!!Yesterday (my birthday) I was going up for my third jump of the day. There was a nine way, a two way, then me and Jablen79. So, I got in first and was back to back the the guy flying right seat on our King Air. We had five people on the bench, so we were tight. I remember feeling a bit hot, then the next thing I remember is opening my eyes and not knowing where I was. I was really confused and frightened. Joe was awesome enough to ride down with me (he owes beer for that......but I will let him tell you!) Once on the ground I felt fine. I have never passed out before, not skydiving or anytime else. Scary!!! I still really don't know what happened.Anyway, if bad things come in threes, I am set for a while!!!!I hope you all had fun, safe jumps!Anne
Pammi 0 #2 October 29, 2001 Wow! Very weird! Did you ever go back up or call it a day? Glad you're feeling better now...perhaps your preggers? :) heheHemp/skydiving jewelry pics!

skymedic 0 #5 October 29, 2001 Undiagnosed syncope is VERY dangerous. You probably already know that you must get scene by a physician pronto. hopefully it was just being tired combined with some hypoxia up high....but many bad things can cause it..so get evaluated..PLEASE!!!!!MarcBecause I fly, I envy no man on earth
FallinWoman 1 #6 October 29, 2001 Certainly not preggers (my hump/jump ratios always seem to start with 0:....)I did not jump anymore on Saturday, but I made one jump today. I was fine. I was very aware of how I was feeling on the entire ride up. I sat by the door, no one in front of me, so I had plenty of room to breathe!
Kelly 0 #7 October 29, 2001 i hope that you do get checked out pronto! it could be something serious!. were not joking around, marc knows more about this than i do, but its something medical and so a Medical person (DR) should check you out. seriously, think about it. what happens if you get the feeling in freefall? under canopy? or friggin god forbid, on final. people get seriously injured because they dont use their toggles on landing.. please get checked out. I dont want you to be coming in on final and pass out, thereby landing without breaking.Skydiving effects our bodies, adrenalin and such.. so if your body went wacko under somewhat normal conditions imagine what could happen with all the juices flowing!on a lighter note, You know youre not a student when you secure the seat next to the door cause you WANT to sit there. FallinWoman 1 #8 October 29, 2001 I guess I am nust not that worried. I assume it happened because I was jammed between the copilot and another jumper. Her rig was on my belly, and I couldn't breathe normally. It was chilly this weekend, so we did not have the door open during the climb. I think I just got too hot, and too little fresh air and couldn't get full breaths. Does that sound crazy?
Kelly 0 #9 October 29, 2001 no, that doesnt sound crazy. it actually sounds normal. Most people dont like to be sick, so they write a little illness off as a 'bug' or as something else. we all want you to get checked out cause youre not playing bingo, your skydiving. Your health plays a big part in how your skydives go, and how safe you are too.this isnt going to be the last time youre crammed in a plane, and it might not be the last time that you pass out or feel ucky. maybe next time you dont pass out, maybe next time you do an awesome sitfly even though for some reason youre all over the sky... you get a little dizzy. no worries, thats what happens when youre seeing earth/sky/earth/sky/earth/sky etc etc.. so youre under canopy and now that little bit of dizzyness turns into major dizziness and maybe even some vomiting.. what do you do now? youre pretty much screwed.read some old parachutists, youll see in the IP's that some injuries/fatalities were contribuated to the persons health.get checked out. do it so that at least you know in your head that things are okay. and do it for your friends and family, they worry too.kel"i can not attest to what i did, just what i remember...."~me, after one too many
freeflir29 0 #10 October 29, 2001 "Her rig was on my belly, and I couldn't breathe normally"Yep...shallow breathing in a reduced oxygen environment will make you pass out with a quicks. But, a trip to the Doc wouldn't hurt ya a bit. Passing out isn't something to take lightly. That doesn't just happen for no reason. Michele 1 #11 October 29, 2001 Anne, Please - DON'T BE A FOOL - SEE A DOCTOR! It really may have been nothing, but wouldn't it be great to find that out? It could be many, many, many things, most not a problem. ALL a problem if they happen in the air.You are a smart, savvy lady, who has proved that you can take care of yourself. Do it again. Take care of yourself, get checked, and then jump happy. Know what I mean?ciels-Michele"What of the dreams that never die? FallinWoman 1 #14 October 29, 2001 ALL RIGHT, YOU CONVINCED ME!!I left work early today and went to the doctor. She had a couple ideas:1. My blood pressure today was 85/55, which is in the low range. This is NOT becuase I am in great shape or anything, believe you me!2. She thinks it may be my already low blood pressure combined with the rig on my belly, conbined with altitude, combined with reaction to the flu shot I got on Friday. I believe all of the until the flu shot part. She took blood, so I will know more later this week!Thank you all for looking out for me. If you hadn't all been so adamant about it, I might not have gone to see her!I'll let you know if I learn anything else....Anne
lazerq3 0 #15 October 30, 2001 I saw a vidoe of (and dont quote me ) but I believe it was Jan davis's husband. He was going to film a big way and you can see everyone is just crushed into everyone on jump run, by the way they were in a skyvan, and because of lack of O2 and being crushed he passed out. On the video you can see him just standing there and when the green lite came on everyone just pushed out with him in the mix. From another camera mans angle you can see him just tumble out for second. He said later that he regained consiousness at approx 7000ft and pulled. Thats one lucky guy. Glad to here your doing Ok and didnt get that far!!!!!Thats scary stuff to black out. Did it myself when I got kicked in the head at a soccer game I was playing in. They said when I woke up I was so scared and unaware of anything that they had to strap me down cause I was fighting off people that were trying to help me. jason
LittleJumper 0 #16 October 30, 2001 Karen: I'm glad to hear you're feeling better and glad you went to the doctor. You mentioned the flu shot the day before you had that experience on your dive. I have heard lots of weird things happening to people when they get the shot. Including getting the flu that it's supposed to prevent!! I think THAT had a lot to do your blacking out, along with the combination of those other factors. But of course, I'm not a doctor and you did the right thing to get yourself checked out!Hopefully I'll see you Saturday!
PhreeZone 20 #17 October 30, 2001 Actually..... it was for the 246 ways in Asia and they were jumping Russian MI-8 hellicopters. Tom's O2 ran out at 18k and they went on up to 21k. He blacked out on his feet and was carried out by the swarm of bodies around him. Pilotdave has the clip on his ftp server.A rainy day at the DZ is better then a Sunny day at work

It made me so sick I was in there for two weeks.....that sucks!!!! then a year later I spent WAY too much time in the hospital for something else...MarcBecause I fly, I envy no man on earth
