My husband jumped at Marana for his first tandem and then discovered Eloy. What a difference!! It's a beautiful DZ and has much better aircraft. I would categorize Marana's equipment in the rickety, about to fall apart, category. Eloy is a happening place and I don't even jump (I just go to hang out with my husband and drink beer). You have to at least go to Eloy once just to check it out! You'll be glad you did.
yim666 0 #3 October 9, 2001 say what you want about Marana, but we had a terrific time! Sure, Marana's not as nice as Eloy, but their king air rocks. you wanna see a "rickety" dz, come to my home dz, Westex Skysports! I had 13 jumps for $99, which comes out to $7.62 a jump. hard to beat that. and i could've easily made more (my buddy got 19, another 16) if i could pack faster or if i hadn't biffed a road construction sign with my face on my last jump! HotLoad 0 #4 October 9, 2001 YIM!!! I didn't think those hamburgered hands and swollen thumbs would be able to type for a while. Still want to demo that Cobalt? You're f--kin' nuts man!!
HotLoad 0 #5 October 9, 2001 Why don't you downwind MY Sabre?....at Westex?.......puss-Dude, you gotta let me jump that Cobalt when it gets here before you get it all bloody!
PhreeZone 20 #6 October 9, 2001 Dudes.... I hope you both have WAY more experience then your profiles say you do if you want to jump a Cobalt. The Cobalt is an excellent canopy, more extreme then a Stiletto in my opinion. Even at a light loading the thing was fast. If you have'nt jumped an elliptical yet, rethink it before you jump the Cobalt. Call up PD and tell them you want to demo a Stiletto at sub 300 jumps and they'll flat out tell you to get more jumps before you can get it. The Cobalt even at a light loading flys comperable to the Stiletto, so the same saftey thinking needs to be used on it. A Cobalt rockets through altitude faster then any thing I've jumped before. And if you do decide to take the risk, be careful if you do jump it because its real easy to get hurt when things are happening at the speeds a Cobalt or any highly loaded canopy is capible of. An impact with a road sign after a risered approach would break bones at the mininum.....Be safe, be smooth, be fast..... and most importantly.... be phree
 PhreeZone 20 #7 October 10, 2001 Damn.... now I'm the one sounding like a canopy Nazi.... If he is'nt capible of making safe landings (he claimed to it a construction sign last weekend) under his larger Sabre, then the Cobalt might not be the best next canopy. Plus I don't want to see any of the demo canopies get hurt since when I jumped the demo one, it drew a lot of interst and lots of jumpers were talking about getting thier own demos Be safe, be smooth, be fast..... and most importantly.... be phree
 cobaltdan 0 #11 October 13, 2001 understood..definately when someone is downsizing and trying a new canopy, advice should err on the side of caution.sincerely, dan
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
