Skydiving shutting down again?

I sure hope not?? Has anyone else heard what my mom called to tell me this morning, that now they are saying that along with the terrorists allegedly trying to get cropdusters, they were also allegedly trying to learn to skydive?? What the hell are they gonna do with that knowledge...other then maybe strap a bomb onto themselves and launch in somewhere. Ah well, probably just rumors, but I hope it doesn't affect us again, especially since this will be the first weekend we can jump for two months (so call me selfish )
Just one jump at least...please?!

Nothing on USPA or FAA websites. I heard they were going to ground crop dusters again but FAA website says they are still aloud to go up.

I'd like to know where she heard that.. probably just the media screwing things up. Roger Nelson said something (in his "Weekly Update") about the FBI talking to him about his training the United Arab Emirates air force something-or-others... someone in the media might have grabbed that and ran the wrong direction with it.

I haven't been able to confirm this as of yet, either. Just checked several websites such as the Reuters site and AP Wire and AP World Headlines sites - nothing about skydiving at all and nothing about crop dusters which is new.
Could be just a rumor - prolly is, at that. I mean, can you imagine someone learning to jump, and, like, has 23 jumps with no accuracy, try to jump into, say, a landmark, or a reservoir or something, and still manage to carry the attack out? It would be pretty hard to do, although not impossible. (Until September 11, I would have said flying an airplane into a building was a flight of fancy, too, so I can't rule it out logicallly).
I think that a lot of people are on edge right now (I know I am), and the possibility may exist. But I think it's rather unlikely.
BTW, where'd your mom get the info?

Um you know The FBI visited Elsinore over the weekend as well asking about if they were training anyone "that could fit a terrorist description" I would imagine they visited Perris as well...

Hey....now there's an idea. I'll open an AFF school for terrorists. All of them will come because it will be cheaper than anywhere else. $30 for the FJC. I will instruct them by spotting and the rest of the dive is up to them. Plus, there's no gear rental since they wouldn't need anything as silly as a rig. Allah will save them!

Has anyone else noticed we never had these problems before there were freeflyers?
Let me highlight the similarities between illegal immigrant terrorists and freeflyers: bizarre facial hair, grossly mismatched clothes which are ill fitting at best, inability to speak the Queen's (or anyone else's) English ("gonna launch a flower to a double over under reverse" vs. "would you like to buy a pack six of the beer?"), appearing to be uncomfortable wearing shoes, an unnatural attraction to sheep, special diets, and the aroma of "strange herb" in the air whenever they are around.

Skreamer- Once they leave the aircraft it's up to them to be stable. But does it really matter with no rig? Of course, spinning quickly does produce some lift and slow the descent. I would really be pissed if they showed up for a second jump. LMAO

Dunno if they visited Perris. Quite likely, but I think I would have spotted a few suits walking around...so not that I saw, nor that I heard through the grapevine. At least on Saturday.
They sure weren't there when I almost let my fists and feet make a "new friend" .....because if they had overheard someone calling me unAmerican, a traitorous bitch and Afghanistan Jane, they sure would have been interested......
(And no, the sunofabytch was off, wrong, and too tightly wound for his own good....I was seriously tempted to unwind him, and help him pull his head out of his ass....and I would have, but someone was able to stop me...but someone needs to whup his bully ass...yeah, this still really pisses me off...).
But the Firemen were there, with their boots, so we raised over $700 for the Fireman's Fund.

LOL! I'm not sure, I think on Good Morning America is where she heard it. *shrug* But they were 'suggesting' we could all get gas masks too as a preventative too yesterday when I listened to it as I was getting ready. I agree that there will probably be lots of this kind of thing floating around for some time to come.

If they were trying to learn to skydive, it was probably so they could bail out the next time they send a plane hurtling into some building or possibly jump out before putting it on autopilot as it dusts a city with anthrax or something. My guess is it would be an escape means not a way to becom a human bomb. Anyway, I hope it doesn't warrant shutting us down. The only other concern I could imagine is if they hijack a jump-plane!! OMG - a plane full of skydivers - they wouldn't have a chance!!
