The Lebanese church attacked in Australia (mentioned in the article) was actually a Christian church. Shows the knee-jerk ignorance of some people.

It's pretty pathetic, isn't it? I hate people like that.. There's no reason for that shit, and it accomplishes nothing.. Hopefully most of this shit will die out in the next few weeks - but, I doubt it.. If anything, it will probably get worse.. I feel sorry for the people that have to put up with this crap..

I have heard of a lot of this happening lately as well. There is a popular Muslim church about an hour north of me (which looks like a small Taj Mahal) and it has suffered bullet holes and broken windows lately.
It is a shame and sad thing that some people are so dumb as to single people out just because they are darker or whatever. *sigh*

It is sad. I was out last night with a friend of mine. He is British, but born in Iraq. When deciding where to eat last night, he actually threw out a couple options because he thought there would be more rednecks there, and possible trouble.
He actually has a better attitude than most about it. He realizes it is natural for people to be suspicous of Arabs that they don't know at the moment.

Yeah the Arab or even closely related seem to have expected this and are dealing with it pretty well. It sucks that people will act like this. A guy I work with is from Palestine but Christian. His words, "Ahh this is nothing. In Palestine I was hated on the Arab side cause I was Christian and on the Israeli side cause I was Arab" and we all know how deep the hatred is there. At least it seems we learned from our mistake in WWII and there have been many politicians speaking out against the way we treated the Japanese Americans. I guess it's only a stupid mistake if you make it twice.....Like my thoughts of rejoining the military lately....LOL

I was trying to explain this to my Dad. That the dualities that we create (and which often lead to conflict & suffering).... good/evil, hot/cold, up/down, us/them are subjective and exist only in our minds. I think the point was lost on him, as it is on most people. I've reached a point where I understand that this isn't something that can be communicated to someone... you have to feel & understand it on your own.
