Please donate blood

Recommended Posts

Please go donate blood. It is not fun, it hurts, it makes some people nauseous. So what? You're still able to donate.
Call:
888-Blood-888
800-GIVE LIFE
Look it up in your local yellow pages (Red Cross). Or, if you can, log onto www.redcross.org (I think)
Call your local hospital, and ask for their direction as to where to give blood. I just came home from doing it, and there are hundreds of places you can do it. Please please please do it, even if it makes you ill.
God bless the people involved, killed, injured, and witnesses. And god bless all of us.
With prayer-
Michele

had the same thought michelle, but i can't freakin get through to the red cross. did you actually call em up and make an appointment, or just show up at one of the centers? i was thinking of just heading over to a donation site after work and waiting it out. poor guys, they must just be swamped.
well anyway, if anyone has any advice about how to best get in to donate, let me know.
good Lord, this day is simply incomprehendable.

I have just heard the first reports of us canucks lining up to donate blood that would be transported to the US. I live close to Niagara Falls, Canada and am heading to the nearest hospital to donate blood for all those involved.
I am terrified and I mean [bold]TERRIFIED[/bold] of needles, but what is fear if it can save a life.......
My thoughts and prayers are with all those involved....

I just drove to the hospital, and walked in.
You can donate at most local hospitals. Also, check your White Pages for the local Red Cross blood center, and just walk in. I believe they will be open late today, tomorrow, and likely Thursday.
Please go donate. It will save a life. No doubt.

I live in Bethesda near DC, and I was working in Gaithersburg, MD (about 13 miles outside of the DC beltway) when the shit happened. This afternoon I kept calling 1800 GIVE LIFE but it was busy, so I called the local Red Cross & apparently they are unable to even handle the huge number of people who have come in to donate today. The same is true (I heard) in NYC. It's something when everyone pitches in like this :)I'll try again tomorrow morning, but the sign on the outside of the Red Cross said to call & make an appointment first before coming in.

They interviewed the former Deputy Secretary of State (under Clinton) on the radio & he had some good points. He said that the terrorists want us to either crawl into our shell in fear (not bloody likely), or lash out in a ruthless military strike which would exacerbate the international tension that they (the terrorists) thrive on. We should do neither one. He also pointed out that clearly, the terrorists spent a lot of time & effort planning this, and we should do the same in deciding how to respond. Such as get the full cooperation of other countries, including modern Arab countries, together to hunt down these scumbags. (OK, he didn't actually use the term "scumbags"):)Speed Racer

I'm not allowed to give blood within 24 hours before flying.....so when the FAA announced yesterday that they were not going to open the airspace until at least noon(about 24 hours away at that point), I went to donate.. Unfortunately, I was told I don't qualify due to several countries I have visited in the past year..
