Viking 0 #1 September 10, 2001 I just thought since i am really board watching Dr. No (the first James Bond film) and messing around with the flash designer at www.square1.comonce you have your design or design's ready just press the PrtScrn/SysRq button to the right of the f12 button. Then go into MSPaint and paste it there and then save it as a .jpg file. If you don't have a website to host it on email me at redphoto@pacbell.net and i can put them on my Photopoint account and then email you the links back and then you can Post your Design. Thats simple enough right? anyway here are mine.Cobalt-123Icarus Extreme FX-12Sabre 2-12Vengeance-12I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver

mountainman 0 #3 September 10, 2001 I think of all of yours, i like the first Vengence design. As far as screen shots, a GREAT program to take as many as you want and very quickly is HERE. Just download it, turn it on, and it's EASY.I dont feel like coloring yet.--------------Boogie pics coming!!!
RemiAndKaren 0 #4 September 10, 2001 I'm gona be a great party-pooper here and say dont waste your time on a custom canopy.... A rig, yes (not so much for the colors but rather then the fit, so migh as well have colors that go very well with what you like). Why not for the canopies?: why wait for weeks and pay more then ordering something dealers have on stock and may be willing to sell for less to move their stock... Also, ther are lots a second hand mains out there with minimal use that represent a great bargain...I know its fun playing around with the color swatches (been there!), but its even better to save a few 100 bucks....PS: none of the designs you have got purple, so I dont like any of them.. lol RemiMuff
skybytch 273 #5 September 10, 2001 Quotemessing around with the flash designer at www.square1.comActually, it's not Flash, it's Java. Can't believe we used to decide canopy colors with paper and crayons.... pull and flare,lisa---Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious

Designer 0 #7 September 10, 2001 Custom colors are O.K. if you can pic the fabric that "Lays" the best when cut.Being at the mercy of whats available sucks sometimes.Material that lays well, flys well.

Jumperpaula 0 #10 September 10, 2001 Being a true hippie, but not a freeflyer...I always thought a tie-dye canopy would look really cool. Never seen one though. Fly Your Slot !
PhreeZone 20 #11 September 10, 2001 AR used to have this purple/blue ZP material that looked dirty and worn from a distance but when you looked at it up close it really had this green and yellow pattern to it. It reminded me of cheap wallpaper the first time I saw it Flying on your belly is great..... if thats all you can do!
NewGuy 0 #12 September 11, 2001 Check attachement: My first canopy. Hornet 190. I thought it was a good colour choice at the time... but now, I'm wondering... oh, well... I didn't have to pay extra and I was waiting on a container so I wasn't worried about the delay for a custom order.Cheers,NewGuy
westcoastchica 0 #13 September 11, 2001 not that i don't love playing with color options, but ummm, has anyone noticed the canopies up there? (if i am missing something, and we are just playing here, then nevermind, but if these are real considerations, then, hmmmm.)viking, i can't keep up with the day to day, but i sort of have a feel for your progression and i see that you are considering an FX and even a vengance. have you a clue as to how these canopies fly? have you spoken to lisa about the dynamics of these canopies? i am no expert, but i am pretty sure you would prosper from a little research into canopies and what is recommended for a new jumper. i have a pretty good feeling that at the school, you have had a shot at the PD navigator/silhouette, and maybe renting equipment from squareone has offered a spectre or a sabre/sabre2, but i am pretty sure that you may like to reconsider what your canopy choices are. if you want to go with icarus, maybe shoot at the omega. sabre2s and spectres may also be a good option.somebody back me up on this. lisa, chuck, somebody?the prospect of buying your own gear is very exciting, but should be taken one step at a time. i have seen far too many people jump into this head first and regret their purchases, even hurt themselves because they figure, i spent all this money, i better jump this stuff and learn to like it.it took me about 507 redesigns to finally figure out how i wanted my jumpsuit to turn out...because it was the only thing that i bought brand new and custom made for me. i bought everything else, but my altimeter, used. and it suits me fine. in the process of looking for used gear, i got one hell of an education about the different container and canopy companies and what they had to offer. a lot of these companies have stellar customer service and even if it isn't ASAP, a lot of times they will have someone for you to speak with personally, on the phone to answer any qyestion. PD and Sunpath spent an awful lot of time with me, even though they knew that i was in the market for used gear and i wouldn't be buying direct from them...and ultimately i bought their stuff...used.you and michelle and kimmer and everyone out there who are in the "new jumper" category have a huge road ahead when it comes to choosing gear. take your time and be educated. color schemes are great, but performance is the ultimate focus. what is going to perform best for you and your abilities.good luck in your search, dude! and when it is all said and done, i hope to be able to see that gear in the air on a jump sometime, k?!Lara

westcoastchica 0 #15 September 11, 2001 oh okay MM, that is all good. just didn't make sense (to me)to play with colors if you weren't even considering those canopies. coolio. oh well, maybe someone will be inspired by my blabberings. ha ha. i'll put the soapbox away now.Lara
Viking 0 #16 September 11, 2001 Lara i am not stupid i know what these canopies are and that someone like me will most likly be a lawn dart flying one at this point in time. I used the extreme FX b/c i wanted to mess with the colors on a crossbraced canopy and the vengeance b/c of the airlocks. Right now i am jumping a PD260 9-cell and plan to try out the Tri 230 next weekend My first canopy will probly be in the range of a 190-210 seeing as i weight 185-190 in my birthday suit and about 210-15 out the door. I need to start putting a warning on my posts b/c people just don't understand me and as for not understanding why..........We can dream can't we? DZBone 0 #17 September 11, 2001 QuoteCheck attachement: My first canopy. Hornet 190.Hey, that looks just like my Raven III, except it's a seven cell, alternating black and purple. I'm kind of tired of it, because the canopy is old and I've been looking at it so long, but I still get compliments on it!Carl
Aviatrr 0 #18 September 11, 2001 My Crossfire is white with blackberry ribs.. I've never seen it from the ground, but people tell me it looks pretty good.. I've never really looked at it myself - other than to see that it was good, then time to fly it.. When I decided what I wanted, I grabbed the best looking(to me) canopy that Icarus had on hand in the size I wanted.. I got it about a week after order - I don't really see the point in waiting a long time for a custom colored canopy..Mike
Kris 0 #19 September 11, 2001 Quote hey kris that thing looks like a big King Cake but without the yellow. oh what size is it?? Heh, thanks. It's a 190. If you really want to see some purple, here is a pic of a 45-sec delay that I went on with a student three weekends back. It was just after exit and I'm just about to throw "flat-boy" an "arch-like-Hell" hand signal. The weird patch on the right leg of my Barney-purple freefly suit is a pocket made out of a fabric with aliens all over it. Kris"You can't go wrong with purple & aliens..."
