Kolton_Madison 0 #1 September 12, 2014 When skydiving, do you prefer a digital or analog altimeter?
FeetKneesFace 0 #2 September 12, 2014 What do you consider "digital"? Does that include an audible altimeter with pre-set warning alerts? Or only a visual altimeter with continuous read-out?
Arvoitus 1 #3 September 12, 2014 Get Alti-track and you'll get both. Analog for freefall (I can't honestly understand why anyone would need to know their exact altitude in freefall) and under canopy you just flip it over and you have a digital.Your rights end where my feelings begin. DougH 270 #4 September 12, 2014 That read out on an alti-track is more useful for looking at on the ground. Are you actually flipping it around in the air?"The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
strife 0 #5 September 12, 2014 given the theme of questions it seems like product development so have selected digital
fcajump 164 #6 September 17, 2014 My vote for combination is simply because I (like others) prefer: Digital back-end / Analog display (Alti-Track) JWAlways remember that some clouds are harder than others...
wmw999 2,529 #7 September 17, 2014 I think in terms of failure modes; old style analog altimeters with mechanical rather than electronic interiors have a different failure mode. Also, I already own one But the eyes are the last backup. That's three technologies, with different failure mechanisms for each. Wendy P. There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence.
