Perris Has A Job Opening...

Recommended Posts

Morning, all.
With the recent discussions about how to make a career in skydiving, when I saw this I thought I should bring it over. And because it's just about 4:30 in the morning, I couldn't decide where to put it. "
PVS is looking for a fulltime Loader/Fueler
Perris Valley Skydiving has an immediate opening for someone to work
fulltime as an aircraft loader and fueler. This is a 40+ hour per week
position. The applicant must be available to work all weekends, with 2
days off during the week. We would prefer someone with aircraft and
mechanical knowledge, but we are willing to train. Applicants must be
in good health, able to lift 50 lbs or more and be 18 years of age or
over. This person will be responsible for starting and loading our jump
aircraft (either Otters or Skyvan). This person will also be responsible
for fueling all aircraft. Other duties including aircraft cleaning and
some light grounds maintenance. If you are interested please contact
Jack Gramley by phone at (909) 657-3904, by email at
PerrisCam@aol.com or by mail at Perris Valley Skydiving, 2091 Goetz
Road, Perris, CA 92570. This is NOT a seasonal position. Perris Valley
Skydiving operates 365 days per year and maintains a year-round
fulltime staff. If you are a skydiver that wants to work in this
industry or if you are interested in aviation, this is an excellent
opportunity for you."

He forgot a critical qualification for a loader. Must be able to deflate large egos, deflect snide prima donna remarks, and control urge to strangle stragglers and other idiot skydivers. :)Seriously, the guys at Perris who already do this are great. They seem to have the just-right mix of stern and patient that makes things run smoothly. They have the respect of the jumpers and much more patience than I would have. :S

Considering they were short handed this weekend, they really did do a great job. And they always high-five me as I am climbing in. They really are cool. :)Ciels

My son is SO bummed that a) he's not 18 yet and b) he has to go to school five days a week. He wants that job really bad. I'm worried. What have I raised here? A DZ bum?? Sigh. There goes my retirement plans...
Omri, you have to be 18 because the job is in California. California is the home of a lot of lawyers and very busy civil courts. In California, a "minor" (someone under 18) can't work around "dangerous machinery", which airplanes could easily be considered, or "hazardous materials", which jet fuel could easily be considered.

Funny.. as awful as the work seems, it was the loader at perris that helped me to finally get head down.
I'd been at it for 4 straight days with the flyschool, but it wasn't until the loaders started getting on my case with "so are you gonna nail it this time?" that I finally managed out of sheer force of will.
