mikefarmer 0 #51 August 31, 2001 OK, I'll tell a tat story. This one starts like I would think many tattoo stories start...with booze. I had been considering a skydiving related tat for about a year (I already had a dead cow skull). Well, I was in Dallas doing a lot of drinking, when my whuffo buddies and I wandered into a tattoo shop. Now, normally a good tattoo artist will send you away if you are wasted. But, a bad one (along with most shops on Commerce Street on OU-Texas football weekend) will do whatever you can pay for while you sip a Jack and Coke. I hate to admit it, but I picked a stock design off the wall, the flaming ying-yang. I did change the white to sky blue. Then I told the guy to put "Blue Skies" on top, and "Black Death" on bottom. I have to give him credit, he asked me if I was sure I wanted him to write on me before he put the letters on. Needless to say, I was a little concerned when I woke up the next morning with my face stuck to my arm and saw "Death" showing under the sleeve of my T-shirt. I looks like a prison tat if I wear short sleeves. Anyway, I'm not ashamed of it, since it has good color, and the symbol and words actually mean something to ME, and go together quite well. My next one will actually commemorate one of my favorite skydives. I was under canopy when I saw a hawk, dead ahead, flying straight toward me. He was so close, I thought he would fly right through my sabre. As he passed right over my canopy, I stared at him, and he stares at me, and I swear our eyes met, and of course I felt a connection to him (sentimental old bastard I am), and I'm sure we both thought "WHAT THE FUCK?" at the same moment. Anyway, I want to immortalize that experience on my back soon. I have never felt so close to nature, or to aviation, as when I "communicated" with that bird. Tee 0 #54 August 31, 2001 Quote Skymama..don't let my navel thing scare you, K? I just don't heal really well with piercings...even my ears are only pierced once for that reason. I got my navel done twice and it just wouldn't heal. Then my friend who owns a tattoo and body peircing studio told me to try gold and sure enough, it healed up fast and I have never had a problem with it since (3 years ago)!I also have always loved butterflies. They are beautiful and symbolise change (from the caterpillar to the butterfly) and freedom, so I have a very elegant/feminine one on my lower back. mouth 0 #55 August 31, 2001 Go for it girl. Really, I've had no problem at all with mine, but I really try to keep it clean and don't touch it. I can't wait for it to heal so I can hang a closing pin from it!!!
SniperCJ 0 #56 August 31, 2001 I had a redtail hawk flying alongside me under canopy once (I was under the canopy, not the redtail...). He was about 50 yards away. Quite a sight! I just thought, wow, only a select few people get to see the hawk from ABOVE instead of from below. I felt quite honored that he would fly with me for a moment, earthbound slug that I normally am.JC
NewGuy 0 #57 August 31, 2001 QuoteI can't wait for it to heal so I can hang a closing pin from it!!!I wonder what the whuffo's would think? (not that that should sway anyone's opinion). Before I got into skydiving, I didn't know what a closing pin was and I thought a lot of skydivers were wearing poorly fashioned phallic symbols... One of the guys at our DZ has a closing pin tattooed to the back of his neck. It's looks kinda cool - and whoever sits behind him in the plane sees it. But if you don't know what it is...Cheers,NewGuy
mouth 0 #58 August 31, 2001 Sweetie, some things are JUST FOR ME.As long as I can pull of the prim and proper image at work then what I do on my own time in a different town is none of their business.

mouth 0 #60 August 31, 2001 It is quite funny to see how different I am away from work. My boss would be SHOCKED. I even have here clothes and away clothes. My here clothes would make any old schoolteacher happy but my away clothes would rival most hookers.

Divadiver 0 #63 August 31, 2001 About the gold thing - I had to wait 6 months! I was told that I needed to leave in the surgical steal ring for 6 months because it takes that long to heal and gold is more porous and could cause infection easier. I kind of questioned this because after all when you get your ears done (or way back when I had mine done) they would only use gold.I never had a problem with my belly ring. I had mine done in the fall. My sister on the other hand, had hers done in the summer went swimming in the lake and it got infected. I guess you have to be really careful and think twice about dirty water, sun tan lotions, lotions, powders, and perfumes, etc...I will say one thing, it certainly doesn't take any time to close up if you take out the ring. I took my ring out for two days (I was spayed) and had to push the darn thing through because it had almost closed completely up.Some things you have to work around when you get your belly button done is: jeans (or other pants) that have the closure button right where your belly button is (low cuts are better) and the all time worse is panty hose!!Oh, and one more thing, you might want to make sure who ever is doing the piercing knows where you want the ring - either at the top or at the bottom of your belly button. I have a friend who had hers done and she's got the ring at the bottom only because the guy who did it prefered it that way!Diva

We determined that I have an allergy to surgical steel because I can't wear it in my ears either. So he ordered up a gold ring and within no time it was healed up! freaksister 0 #66 August 31, 2001 QuoteMy tongue was really easy for some reason"Internal"- type piercings heal mcuh faster and with far less pain than others...Average complete healing time for these types of piercings is around 4-6 weeks.External piercings, such as ears, nipples, navels, noses, eyebrows, and others heal slowly. Average time 3-6 months.Sis I lust for the ultimate rush...
mouth 0 #67 August 31, 2001 Speedy,My kids do know I jump and most think I'm crazy. I used to have a display in my room but got lazy this year and haven't done anything other than pass my 200th pictures around for them to see. Wingie,I have some really cute dresses that I wear when I go out but not in this town. I prefer short dresses and believe one can never have too many black dresses.
