mountainman 0 #1 August 27, 2001 Hey all....I am asking help from everyone in the States. My parents want to take a vacation next summer and are looking for a place that offers whitewater rafting. And, of course, Laura and I are wanting a place to skydive and my dad and brother want to make a tandem. If anyone knows of a place that offers these two things within a pretty reasonable distance, please let me know. I guess someone told my mom that there is a place like this in PA, but I dont know anything more. Any info would be great!! --------------Drop on in...leave a message
skymama 37 #2 August 27, 2001 Check out the NC area, MM. I've been rafting on the Nantahala and the French Broad, and had a great rafting company lead us on those trips that I can put you in touch with. I stayed in the Lake Lure area this summer, and went on the French Broad, and I think Palmetto Tiger told me there was a dz about 2 hours away in SC that I could have gone to for a jump...maybe Clayton, SC or something like that. The NC mountains are a great vacation spot, and I've spent many weeks there at a timeshare. Besides it being a gorgeous place to kick back in, there are waterfalls you can jump off, lots of hiking trails, good shopping, nice lakes to boat and fish on, great BBQ to eat, and other sightseeing things like Biltmore House and Chimney Rock Park that I have enjoyed.I don't know about other areas, but I'm thinking you might have a hard time finding rafting and skydiving close to each other because you need the mountains for a good rafting run, and mountains are kind of a hard obstacle to skydive around.AndreaThe brave may not live forever, but the timid may not live at all. Oh, I forgot about the tandems. Nevermind. JustinMy Homepage
shleprock30 0 #4 August 27, 2001 You can also check out the Seattle area. You can jump Kapowsin, check out Blue Sky Outfitters, Inc. 800-228-raft or www.blueskyoutfitters.com for the white water. It seems like around here the time of season is really important for the rafting.
freeflir29 0 #5 August 27, 2001 Try the area around Marion, MT. They have an awesome boogie every summer and it isn't hard to fly into Kalispell, MT. You have Glacier National Park, the Clark Fork River, and several others. Some of the most beautiful scenery in the country just make sure you dont go during the winter. I have no idea what kind of operations the DZ in Marion runs on "non-boogie" days so check with them."Don't give a F$#ck if I'm comin or leavin"-Pappa RoachClay
