Pammi 0 #1 August 7, 2001 I'm going to be as polite about this as possible, considering the bastards made me cry (which I REALLY hate doing) and now I've had a little rum...but I have to say, I will NOT be buying a Mirage again. I honestly kept pushing Merrick for a Mirage because I love the rig, but I am finding I DO NOT like the service. We were told getting the repair done where I tore it on the airplane a while back would only take two weeks. Now, we're coming on a month and I STILL do not have it. The real kicker, is we leave for Quincy this Thursday morning! Merrick and I's first anniversary/late honeymoon and I'm really worried I may not get it in time. Last week..."Where is it?" "We haven't gotten to it yet, we'll have it done by next Friday." "Not possible. I need it ASAP so I can get the canopies and Cypres back in before Quincy." "Okay, we'll get it out by Wednesday." Thursday...still not sent. Friday "We haven't sent it, but we will overnight it after a call from us and the DZO." Still not there on Saturday. Still not there today (Merrick was going to go get it then go 30 mins away to the rigger). Call to Mirage again. It got OVERLOOKED by shipping! FUCK ME! They are sending it tomorrow, overnight. I'm praying I get it here Wednesday, then I'll have to either drive it to the riggers the night before we leave, or take it all to Quincy and find someone there to do it.Needless to say, I'm not impressed nor happy. I will be finding Bill at Quincy just so he can see in person who his customer was that he was so careless with...perhaps if they put a face with a name.... who am I kidding?!?!Argh!!!PMerrick's SCR Ceremony

Viking 0 #3 August 7, 2001 damn girl sounds like you got bent over on that deal thats one more reason why i am getting an infinity when i get the cash Remember when Sex was safe and skydiving was Dangerous?
freaksister2 0 #4 August 7, 2001 Aww, girl I am SO sorry! I haven't had a chance to ask you today about it. If all else fails, you can jump my rig at Quincy. I'll jump it then you jump it, then I jump it, then you jump it, etc. AND one or both of us can demo gear so we can make some jumps together! You are going to Quincy with or without that Mirage! Love you girl! I'll make sure you get to jump!Your Sis
freeflir29 0 #5 August 7, 2001 Sorry to hear it. That really blows and I see so much of it with manufacturers. I dont know whats up with that. Guaranteed one thing. Since you posted I'm sure someone important will here about it. "Blow me where the Pampers is" -Name that movieClay
Zennie 0 #6 August 7, 2001 Sorry to hear that Pammi, hope they come through for you. While we're on the subject of customer service, how have people's experiences been with some of the other manufacturers? Since I jump a Vector III I'd be interested in finding out what RW's customer service is like.------------Blue Skies!Zennie
Aviatrr 0 #7 August 7, 2001 Hey Pammi...If the rig doesn't show up in time for Quincy, just remember this.. There are lots of people that don't take gear to Quincy.. They just demo LOTS AND LOTS of rigs and canopies.. Of course, I'm not suggesting this........just remember that SOME people do it.. Mike
skymedic 0 #8 August 7, 2001 the people that own Mirage now are the same guys that owned PD source....now you may see the reason that company went under.....hope it works out for you.MarcHere I come to save the day!!!!!!!!!!!
Pammi 0 #9 August 7, 2001 Thank you guys!! Making me cry is definately a bad thing...it's usually the first sign of extreme anger just before I explode :) Then I'm more pissed off cuz I'm being a girl and crying! LOL! Figured best to air my frustrations on here amongst friends then call them like I wanted to only to handle the situation badly and make things worse. Anyway...we'll all be calling them to confirm it is on it's way, overnight, several times today! I'm going to be such a huge pain in the ass, they'll get it off so they don't have to listen to me calling anymore! LOL! I'm very disappointed though. I can't say they won any points with me on this one. I'd heard that Sunpath was difficult to deal with and hoped Merrick wouldn't get something from them if it were true when the time comes for him to get a new rig. Now Mirage is out too...perhaps there aren't any good manufacturers to deal with out there???PMerrick's SCR Ceremony

BenW 0 #11 August 7, 2001 Pammi,Has Merrick looked at the Wings containers? Skreamer has just got his and loves it. I'm thinking about getting one too - the service seems v.good and there are some great design ideas on it. Alot of riggers seem to like it too. The turn around time is pretty quick, AND it looks neat! Cheaper than the others also.....B.
Pammi 0 #12 August 7, 2001 We actually were talking about that just this morning. They seem to be getting a much better review then the Odyssey has that he originally thought about (again, back to manufacturer problems too that I've heard about on top of the issues with the rig itself). I think he is leaning towards the Wings. I hope they have one at Quincy he can try out, along with the new Sabre.PMerrick's SCR Ceremony
BenW 0 #13 August 7, 2001 Rigs and Things are doing a 25% discount on them at the moment!!! Something like $990 for a Wings with a fully articulated harness! I'm waiting for a quote on a complete rig from them! Can't wait!!! The new Sabre2 also sounds very interesting!B.
skymama 37 #14 August 7, 2001 Viking,Go ahead and get an Infinity because you like the container, but don't get it for the speedy service. I just got mine, and I do like it, but it took 11 weeks to get here. All the other parts for my rig were sitting around in the factory for 3 weeks waiting for it. That's a lot of money in rental fees I had to pay waiting for that thing. Andrea"Up high, I feel like I'm alive for the very first time"

They make the Voodoo, Talon 2, and Genera.. I have a Talon 2, and my next rig will be a Voodoo.. Both are very comfortable, and the customer service I have received from them is nothing short of excellent.. Mike
Vlad 0 #16 August 7, 2001 Wings' service is excellent. Their normal time to make one rig is 8 weeks. I called them and told that I needed container in 5 weeks, just before I go to California. And they pushed it and made it in time ! I was impressed. No rush fee as well !
weid14 0 #17 August 7, 2001 I feel bad for Pammi and her container. I've gotten nothing but good service from them (even changed something while I waited - for free). I would be careful, however, in making statements about PD Source and their relationship to Mirage. Especially if not all the facts are known.
DZBone 0 #18 August 7, 2001 QuoteThen I'm more pissed off cuz I'm being a girl and crying!Pammi, you go ahead and let it out, gurl. You can cry in front of us, we don't mind. But, really, bummer about the problem w/your gear. I get the feeling that all the manufacturers are going though this, especially the ones making the more popular stuff. On that note, although I haven't dealt with them myself personally, I have always heard good things about Jump Shack . They make the Racer, which isn't in vogue right now, so the service and quality should be right up there.Good luck!
Kris 0 #19 August 20, 2001 Sorry, but I just had to add on to this thread. I've been trying to decide what kind of rig to buy over the last two months.I had been waffling between the Wings and the Mirage but I just really couldn't justify the high cost of the Mirage. Then I started using one of our demo Mirage's at the DZ to JM with after I sold my rig to buy a new one.The Mirage wasn't sized to me but was still the most comfortable rig I had tried on compared to my Talon and a Javelin and a Vector I had tried. I liked the bridle and pin protection plus all of the great options that come standard. Then Mirage came out with their new UNISYN harness and their freefly deployment handle. That was all it took. Between all the calls I made to Mirage asking about deployment options, reserve options, other options and just general pestering I must have spent about an hour total talking to Bill Hallett. The kicker is that I am getting the rig at a staff discount because I am a JM at my DZ, Oklahoma Skydiving Center. Mirage isn't making much (if any) money off of me. Bill Hallett knew that and always took the time to answer my questions in a very friendly and polite manner. He also had some great suggestions and it was his customer service that really clinched the deal for me. My rig will be purple with silver accents, white trim-tape and embroidery, soft reserve handle, freefly-handle and I went with the nickel-plated UNISYN harness and added the very cool alien logo on the back. This is my first (BEER!) custom rig and I definitely feel that I made the best possible choice! Thanks, Bill! I can't wait until my baby gets here! Now if my custom Heatwave will arrive in time then everything will be perfect!Kris
Pammi 0 #20 August 20, 2001 Yeah, Kris, that's the general consensus about Mirage that I'd heard before. That's why I was so surprised that things happened the way they did. I got it on Wednesday, just before I left, and it had a simple patch over the hole that could've been done at the DZ. I'm not sure why it took a month to sew that patch on, especially considering we were told it would be two weeks, but Bill never spoke to us directly after that initial phone call. Perhaps it's not the norm, but it definately was disappointing.A new page!
