Skydiving Careers

Recommended Posts

Paddy,
One of my friends used to work on a Nature Reserve Lodge when he got an offer to go and work as a camera man on a DZ at the coast. He started skydiving at a very young age, when he had learned all that he could, he began playing around with cameras.
Now he's the luckiest devil I know. He's got a job taking video footages of tadem jumps as well as still photographs. He gets paid to jump!! How lucky can one guy get?

I've made a "living" in skydiving for a few years... I started with a static line j/m, then got the I. Taught lots of FJC's and tossed lots of s/l's outta the Cessna. Picked up a senior rigger's ticket and packed for a living for awhile. Then did some tandems. I sell gear full time now. Even though I'm not getting paid to jump now, I'm surrounded by parachutes and skydivers.
. Out of all of the skydiving related jobs I've done, I like what I'm doing now best.
pull and flare,
lisa

Exactly why sit on ur arse all day when u could jump and help others to jump (including rigging and packing). Not in it for the money definitley but a comfortable life surrounded by skydiving would be the shitnitz, plus uve always got stuff to learn. If that dont work out then a 9-5 job will still get me jumping but not as much as i want to.

While I certainly dont make a living skydiving, I also havnt 'paid' for a jump in about a year.
I started packing part time at my DZ over a year ago and I put all my packing money either on my jump account or in a separate envelope to pay for skydiving related incidentals. I buy lunch, stows for packing, or my new jumpsuit out of my envelope. Granted a long day of packing whips your a$$, but not paying for the following day's jumping somehow makes it worthwhile.
The grand scheme is to get into camera flying and tandem jumping rather than packing, but for now I'll pack.

Yes, you can have a great career in Skydiving and get paid pretty well. It's called the US Military! The Golden Knights have try outs all the time! Or you can be a wind tunnel bum like Chuck. Or try your hand at HALO instruction in sunny Yuma Arizona. You just have to join the Army in a combat arms MOS, stay around and be very impressive as a grunt for 3 years minimum. Get a Ranger tab, go to Airborne school, kill the 400 people in front of you in line to get a HALO slot. Kill the other 467 people in front of you in line for Scuba school. Then enter the SF course. Spend a year and more getting qualified. Don the Green Beenie. Go to a team for several years. Cut Chucks brakes on his Harley and then you are Golden for that wind tunnel slot! Easy as that!

Ummm, Clay,
Are there any, uh, well, you know, mmmm, ?
Do you have any issues, you know, good or bad, that you might like to share with us?
Nooooooooo, that is not an aggressive question, no matter how it sounds. Just wanting to "help" you with your alleged "issues" with the alleged "Armed Forces".
