wildblue 7 #1 August 15, 2001 Who went? What did ya think?Pretty good time. Not too many people, but a decent amount... I'd guess they had 6 or 700 register. Jumped the heli and and the DC3. Demo'd a Sabre2, drank some beers and caught a pretty good band (I forget the name... where's the SDC regulars? The band Bernie's in, what's the name?)Manifest was a little dis-organized, moving loads around a lot "Otter load 212 you're now otter load 402" "Otter load 402 you're now Otter load 213" ... but, I think the big way was screwing them up a little (the 40/60 way) and I think the 4th otter had problems which slowed them down a little. I think the longest I had to wait for a load for 30 mins though. Not bad for their first crack at it. I'm sure they'll work out the bugs and do better next year.Everyone stayed pretty safe. There were a few botched landings, a couple broken bones, but nothing major that I saw.All in all, that place really sucks
LordAJ702 0 #2 August 15, 2001 A few friends, my girlfriend and I went to summer fest and had alot of fun. It was hot as heck and that is the only thing i can think to complain of. The pond cooled things off nicely at the end of the night. got 21 jumps in in 4 days and got one free one. Got to see some nature dives that went on that morning. I saw one band and had another good night of partying at the pond and had alot of fun. Rodger nelson is a great host and even flew his 182 to help my friend find his main that he choped. I'll be back again next year
Slowfaller 0 #3 August 15, 2001 Summerfest....I would have like to been there more. I wasnt able to get off of working. The day I was there though I had a really good time. Only did 1 jump but everyone was in such high spirits, especially on the ride to alti. Didnt' get to jump the heli or dc-3 but there is always next year. I think the band your thinking of is Generations. I'll do some better planning next year and be there the whole week to meet some of ya's. Blue skies, cold beerChris
wildblue 7 #4 August 15, 2001 QuoteI think the band your thinking of is GenerationsNah... Generations sucked compared to these guys (and girls)Found it: Scheme (Although I thought they spelled it differently)
mattb 0 #5 August 15, 2001 Had a great time. It was a bit hot the first weekend but cooled off towards the end. Lots of firsts - including helicopter and DC-3 jumps.Would of like to see a bigger variety of aircraft vs. just Otters but I can't complain since I never waited more than 25 minutes to get on board.-mob

freeflir29 0 #8 August 15, 2001 I've been hearing very good things about this boogie. In fact I know more people that went to Chicago than Quincy! May have to put it on the agenda for next year!"I used to know a girl...She had two pirced nipples and a black tattoo"-EverclearClay

mountainman 0 #10 August 15, 2001 I have already told Laura that I am planning on them for next year. Sounds like the airplane selection was a bit on the thin side, but hey, if you dont have to wait to go up, you can't complain too much.Maybe next year they'll have some tailgates and a balloon to try out. That would sure make it closer to Quincy, and possibly take over.Anyway, I am jealous of those who went. I guess I'll have to make up for it next year.--------------Our website...updated daily
mattb 0 #11 August 15, 2001 ramon -Sorry to hear about your main but glad you had a good time. I'm hearing a lot about lost mains lately. Is this a common thing in late summer / fall when the crops are tall? I guess I never thought about it before (first summer jumping my own gear) and now I'm a bit more nervous about having a mal since it could get very costly.-mob

bbbilly14 0 #14 August 16, 2001 I've never been to Quincy, being a newbie, but I heard that the cops were all over the place there. Who needs that? SDC is home to me, and there is PLENTY of camping or hotels, and the airport is privately owned. No one really seems to care a whole lot what goes on, as long as you don't piss others off. Aside from other aircraft, what more can you ask for?
Dutchboy 0 #15 August 16, 2001 I was there on the 5th and 6th. It didn't seem all that much busier than what I'm used to seeing on a good Saturday down at Skydive Atlanta. The only difference is that they were running two Otters most of the time instead of one. I only got in one jump, because it was just too hot, and I can jump an Otter any time back at home. The Dutchboyhttp://www.geocities.com/ppolstra
cderham 0 #16 August 16, 2001 SUMMERFEST ROCKED!!! I've been to 4 WFFC's and one thing SDC has over Quincy is that you can get away from elbow to elbow people if you want. The vibes were great, the beverage flowing, and skydives cranking. I was only able to make it up on weekends do to work. But was still able to make 35 jumps at a relaxing pace at a cost of $14! Had friends that stayed there all week and ended up with 60-70. Rodger did a great job setting this up and I have not heard a negative comment yet from anyone. As far as aircraft go I would rather get on a super otter and be at altitude in 15 min then a Casa and get there in 25-30 min. Just my thoughtsChris
