bluestar 0 #1 August 2, 2001 First: what are the requirments for "Old Hand", "Newbie", "Adict" etc.....Next how Funny is thisOur son has it bad. We will be lucky to make it till he is 12 so he can acidently fall out of the beech w/ 2 AFF instructers and pull @5.5 (he is 3 now and a experienced BASE jumper ie. sofa, swing, chair etc....) We were flying back fom LA this weekend and during the flight he had to have on goggles, alti, and his sister's Javelin look a like backpack. All the time yelling DOOR and SKYDIVE scaring the S#@! out of the wuffo passengers. Fortunatly (I Guess) we were not the only skydivers on the plane, and they all thought it was cute. He also wore it through the Las Vegas airport FOR 3 HOURS!!!We will post pics as soon as we have them developed.Kevin and Teresafunny how most parents teach there children not to jump off stuff and skydivers teach them how to do it right.(quote from a guy @ Perris as I was teaching Erich Exits on the Mockup)BTW: his 6 yr old sister is still a wuffo but wants to pack for the $$$$$$$
outthere 0 #2 August 2, 2001 yeah - that's how to do it - get them started young. I guess with skydiving the wait has got to be hard - how old do they have to be to jump?I do a lot of climbing too, and it's great when you see the parents out there with their 4-5 year olds who can just scramble up anything with no fear, or concept of consequences.Of course now all the best climbers are under 18 - go figure.e
VivaHeadDown 0 #3 August 2, 2001 If I ever do team jumping, tell his 6 year old sister she'll have a job as a packer! : )Jump like your life depends on it!
Pammi 0 #4 August 2, 2001 That's so cute Bluestar! It sounds like our two kids. Our girl is 9 and is just itching to do a tandem. She saw a boy do one a couple of weekends ago who was 12 and kept saying "not fair!!" She just isn't big enough to fit in the harness yet, which is really my only requirement and the DZ's for her to go. She also wants to pack for money when she gets older, and I have pics of her and her brother learning how to pack from friends at the DZ :) They both know emergency procedures..it's funny to watch our 5 year old son tell his friends about line twists, how you kick out of them, but cut and pull if you can't! We also practice arching in the pool...I could go on and on..but DZ kids are the best :) They are getting to see a part of life and meet people from all walks, even if they decide not to jump themselves (which I leave entirely up to them). ClayFowler 0 #5 August 2, 2001 Thats the poop. My son is 6 and visiting me for the summer. I have covered all the basics that he doesnt get from his whuffo family. He has learned all about skydiving, guns, how to repair an '82 Jeep CJ-7, and of course beer drinkin and cute chics at the DZ(no he didnt get to actually drink beer but damn he talks to all the hotties at the DZ) I think I need to take notes?
