R.I.P. Nipple Ring

Recommended Posts

Thought everyone might find my last jump interesting. Four of us were planning a fun jump out of a Cessna. Well, it just so happened to be around 105 degrees on the ground (it felt even hotter in the plane.) A couple of us decided to jump sans shirts or jumpsuits. After an uneventful horny gorilla, we broke, tracked and dumped. Here's the interesting part. I've jumped several times without a shirt and not had a problem, so I didn't think twice about it. Well, as my canopy started to inflate, I felt a tug on my pierced left nipple. I immediately reached up and grabbed my risers and began to lift myself up. Too late. The vertical descent had slowed considerably, enough so that the wind wasn't rushing past. I heard this God-awful sucking/ripping sound and looked down to see my ring falling away from me. Looked back a my now mangled nipple and watch the blood begin to flow. OMFG, MY NIP! The blood was rinning down my chest and the wind started blowing it back toward my rig. OMFG, MY RIG! I slapped the right toggle up on the velcro and wiped as much of it off as possible which was more of a smear than anything else, and slung the blood off my hand. Back to flying the canopy, then back to smearing the blood, then back to flying the canopy. Wiped one last time, hooked it and landed fine. I don't have a great deal of jumps, so as a few people start to bitch about my hook, I showed them the damage. They propmtly shut up. Before I went to the hospital, I cleaned it up, bandaged it and drank a few beers while mentally preparing myself for stitches in the nip. Got to the hospital, waited forever and then the doctor didn't even stitch it. He did the same thing I had already done, only jamming it with a q-tip instead of a finger. So now I have to pay a hospital bill for nothing and try to have someone fix this damn thing. And yes, I did get blood on my toggle......any reccommendations?
Botttom line, if you have a nipple(s) pierced, don't jump topless, or you might just get the dumbass-of-the-day award, or worse earn the nickname "triple nipple"

Dude! I cannot begin to count the number of my friends who have hosed themselves in similar manners. Nipple rings were a very trendy thing in the SPECOPS community for a while. I saw (and still do see) people hanging them up on all kinds of things. It is very gay to say "don't hurt my nipples" when you are practicing hand-to-hand in the sawdust pit. That, or hanging it up on the side of a building you are trying to climb. LOL! Anyway, brother, learn from the experience and drive on. There is a reason we teach our students to remove all jewelry prior to skydiving. Just be glad you didn't snag a fucking cock ring! Remember, chicks dig scars, so it's all good in the end.

OUUUCCCHHH!! I definitely feel for ya guy, I've tugged mine on everything BUT my rig... however, I've never had it ripped out. :o I can just see that chest strap taking hold of that ring, laughing a little, then tearing it from your flesh.... NO THANKS!! Pretty much cinches the no nudie dive clause for me! lol

Y the F#$%K would anyone deliberately have a piece of metal shoved through their nipple?! I don't get this. Not only does the thought of the nipple-piercing procedure make my skin crawl, but the thought of the ring catching on something & being ripped out freaks me out too. It's not like you couldn't see the potential for this sort of accident.
So why do people get nipple rings anyway?
While we're on the subject, I've even heard of people getting more, uh, intimate parts of the body pierced! :o If I can keep sharp objects away from my penis for the rest of my life, I'll die a happy man. I just don't understand the desire to deliberately shove bits of metal through yourself.
And please don't compare this to people asking "Well, why would anyone jump from a perfectly good airplane?" That's different: The act of skydiving is FUN!! Having metal spikes and rings shoved through sensitive body parts is NOT!!

OUCH!
Man, that's horrible! I really hope you can get the blood of your rig.
Oh, the whole nipple thing must have been nasty too, I guess.

okay speedy, not to flame ya but some people just like it. i personally wouldn't want mine done but hey that's me. now i do have a piece of 10GA. steel where the sun don't shine and i like it (so do the ladies) but it's a personal choice to get pierced, no mater where, an earing could just as easily get snaged on a riser and be ripped out.
just my 2 cents worth.....

I wouldn't expect an Aggie to understand the whole piercing thing, then again, I wouldn't expect and Aggie to understand much. I spent a little time in College Station, and found the people to be very closed-minded. It didn't take long for me to pack up and head for Austin. I'm not going to get into a debate over the piercing thing. Personal choice; to each his own. Period. Just thought some of you would find my tribulations entertaining. BTW,I looked down in the shower yesterday to see what looked like a little mouth smiling back at me. Hehe. Oh yeah, and I don't have my wang impaled. Gag 'em Ags.

Exactly Sky! Thank you :) This is like the old tattoo debates that used to go on. I personally love Merrick's nipple ring...it's very sexy and fun to nibble at, or grab if he's being very bad! HEHE! :D I also love our tongue rings, my nose ring and all of our tats. It's kind of like skydiving, I'm glad not everyone is into it! It's amusing to appear mostly 'normal' in the common sense of the word, then have someone discover one of your body modifications and realize you have a 'secret side' that they may or may not be priviledged enough to know. Besides, it's all good fun! It's just your body for heaven's sake! Flesh, bones and blood. I will decorate it how I see fit because it's like my makeup, haircolor, earrings and such...it's just for fun! What really counts is not visible to the naked eye :)

People say that about Aggies, etc. That's, cool, their opinion. Personally I take great pride in the fact that we stand up for our beliefs, actually taking a deep pride for what we believe in, for our history, or traditions, etc. That isn't found very often now days. Labeling what we believe in as "closed minded" in passing with out understanding what drives us forward with those beliefs simply makes you a hypocrite, incapable of actually following through with your much talked about "open mindedness." Does that mean that refuse to listen to people with other beliefs then mine, no it does not. Generally I try to see both sides of an issue. Though, that also means that there are a few things that I have seen both sides and have chosen my side, thus forever dooming me to be labeled “closed minded” by persons who didn’t choose the same as I. Moreover, flaming me for that last post was not called for, if you didn’t happen to notice, it was a joke.
Also, before you respond with something that pertains to how backwards Aggies are, with the much used, though misused point of the 1999 Bonfire tragedy, go find out who Scott West was.
With that said, I do love Aggie jokes, though, just not pure, misinformed slander.

All that money, and you didn't even get the pleasure of receiving some nipple stitches? What a disappointment!:( (j/k)

Dave,
Excellent post. Of course this all offtopic from piercings, but the anti-Aggie flame started it. Don't you love it how people that are 'open-minded' are always hurling the title of close-minded around? It they were open-minded it would mean not harassing other people for being different. People want to get pierced? Fine I don't. Don't call me closed minded and assault Aggies. Granted the original comments, about WTF would pierce their nipples was a little much. But you did not say it.
Anyway, your post was excellent. I agree and I think we stand together on some issues. Besides Austin scares me :)Malachi
