Jeff5050 0 #1 October 22, 2014 Hi everyone, I fly a pilot 150 and have made around 200 jumps on it now. I bought it used under the assumption that it was manufactured in 2000 and it was of normal ZP fabric. The problem is that on the tail, the manufacture date is smudged it either looks like 2000, or 2008. The version number is 04. Last weekend someone pointed out that my fabric was the honeycomb fabric and that it must be ZPX fabric. Was ZPX fabric around in 2000? does anyone know when Areodyne started producing the Pilot with ZPX fabric option?
skydiverek 63 #2 October 22, 2014 I first heard about it in 2008. For sure NOT in 2000. There was no Pilot canopy of any kind in 2000.
gowlerk 2,190 #3 October 22, 2014 The canopy will have a serial #. If you can read it, just email Aerodyne and they can tell you the DOM. ZPX fabric is very easy to identify. If it shows the distinct honeycomb pattern it is ZPX.Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. The DOM and the SN are ink-stamped on there and don't wear off nowhere near as fast as the stuff on the orange tail label.
JeffCa 0 #5 October 23, 2014 Did the seller also think it was from 2000 and ZP? Aerodyne charges a premium of about $200 or so for the ZPX fabric. If you bought a DOM 2008 ZPX Pilot for the price of a DOM 2000 ZP canopy, you win! "So many fatalities and injuries are caused by decisions jumpers make before even getting into the aircraft. DHemer 0 #6 October 23, 2014 I have a 2005 pilot 168 (version 05 I think) that has the honeycomb rip stop which I assume is ZPX because I have not seen it anywhere else Contact aerodyne
