rhuurrr 0 #1 July 13, 2001 Hey everybody-Went out after a three week delay and did my long-overdue lvl3 jump(twice!)I've been battleing winds, work, a head-cold and basic fear over the last two months, and have been barely staying current. After chatting with Michele in the pub the other night I decided it was time, now or never, jump or don't.So I headed out to Byron yesterday morning...The drive there wasn't as bad as I thought it would be all those times I didn't go. I just listened to some music and told myself "I can do this Dammit!"When I showed up, I met our new JM/I Bridgette, who just came to us from Eloy about 3 weeks ago. She was really cool, we went over the dive, she asked me lots of questions, made me practice my arch and body position A LOT, as well as several PRCT's. Well, the other JM who was there, Connie(who I've jumped with twice before)came down from a tandem and we got ready to go. It was a great ride to alti-, just me and the two coolest skydive chicks at the DZ in the 208. (Hmmm-first jump with two girl JM's...)Anyways, I'm not the poet that Michele is, so I'l just write what Bridgitte wrot in my log book:'Good climb-out and exit-nice stable exit- keep hips out and you will level off. Good COA, did 2 PRCT's- found my altimeter on first try so did another one and got it. J/M's released- did a 90 degree turn and stopped it on own. Gave leg signal a couple of times, had legs too close together which put knees below hips and toes were not pointed-remember, positive pressure on feet. Caused some wobbling throught the skydive. I would like to see a nice body position before sending you to the next level. Get those hips down and legs apart a little more. Pulled on own a 5500' nice job, good canopy control -PLEASE- NO 360 degree turns under 1,000feet!! Nice two stage flare.'In debrief, she told me that i was a little wobbly throughout, but that at the very end i got it, however it was pull time. She said that if we had gone out the King Air at 14,000(instead of the Cessna at 11k) I prolly would've been able to stay stable long enough to pass, but since it had been 3 weeks since my last jump, she felt I should do a repeat. Said that in Level 4, the last thing I should have to worry about is basic stability, too much else to accomplish in the jump. I told her that was not a problem, I understood, and would rather be safe and capable, than just getting through AFF as fast as possible, and let's go back up there and do it again dammit!!!So up we went again. This time my frind Harlad, who just graduated went up with us.as before, here is what is written in my log book for this jump:'Excellent climb-out and exit-good prcp this time. J/M's released for a picture perfect skydive!!!! Excellent improvement on body position. Good COA, just watch pull time-relax, take your time and pull stable. Excellent Job!!! Now don't take 3 weeks off anymore !!!Excellent canopy control, nice STAND UP LANDING!(BEER!) in low winds!!! on to level 4....'I must say that, even though I had to repeat, they were both great skydives!!! I couldn't believe how much more comfortable the second jump of the day was!!! Hopefully I'll finish AFF by next weekend. Thanks to all you guys and gals here for the support you didn't even know you were giving!!!! This place is great.Blue Skies all!!!!Jack-------------------------------http://www.oneeyedjackproductions.com

rhuurrr 0 #3 July 13, 2001 QuoteIn reply to:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------PLEASE- NO 360 degree turns under 1,000feet!!--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Heh, tried to hook it in, did you?yeah, well i figured, 'Hell, I've got 4 canopy rides under my belt, lets see how far I can swoop this Navigator 260...'just kidding, actually the winds were doing some screwey things, so I could't really tell which way would be downwind till it was too late. I was starting my final(downwind) and realized I would go long(and prolly hit the runway, a hangar, trees) so at about 600' I did a soft 360 to (I know, shoulda done some S's) and had a decent slide in, down-wind landing in the experienced jumpers landing area, and pretty much freaked out everyone who was watching, or heard about it later. It was brought to my attention several times that it was a good thing that the DZO or S&TA didn't see it or I woulda been chewed good!Needless to say, I made it right on the next jump and stood it up for the first time!!Blues,J-------------------------------http://www.oneeyedjackproductions.com
