HERE HERE!!!!
Well put, and I agree with it totally. If you love someone enough to sleep with them every night...it shouldn't matter if she has blue hair and snores like a lumberjack...SHE is who you fell in love with and SHE is in her [Steve Irwin "crocodile hunter" voice]natural habitat and in her most natural state[/Steve Irwin "crocodile hunter" voice]

I have to chime in in favor of the natural and practical look:
No makeup.
Sweats or shorts are fine.
Random t-shirt pulled from drawer.
Sports bra (uni-boob, as my wife calls them)
Skydiving women are attractive in whatever they are or are not wearing. It is about the smile on their faces and the spirit in their hearts.
If women want to get made up and decked out after a day of jumping, that is fine. But they should do it because they want to for themselves, not for what some guy thinks. I personally don't care in the slightest.
As a side note, I can't believe that I actually descended into this ridiculous issue. It seems so obvious to me.

Hello Michele. I am a girl, and I do not take offence at the mention of ugly chicks. Why? Because I actually read the posts made by Mac and FFF and nowhere did I find the suggestion that skydive chicks are ugly. And I don't make the (defensive) assumption that I am under attack.
Have you got a chip on your shoulder or what? If you think you're singlehandedly mounting some sort of feminist skydiving movement, you're not. I studied feminism at university (mwah mwah) and I can only conclude that over-reactions like yours do nothing but build polarity between the genders (this one's for you Skreamer, babe;)), emulating the phallocentric power constructs that feminists claim to despise; by taking the defensive you imply that women are somehow the victims of the omnipotent male majority. Which is plainly, bollocks. Or labia, in keeping with the feminist theme. Subversion from within has always been my policy, but each to their own. (Go on, flame me).
If you are trying to smash the patriarchy, there are probably better places to do it than on a harmless skydiving thread. Although I must say this has all been jolly amusing. Let's hope we see more of it, my desk job is terribly dull and a juicy bit of venom and anger is good to see on DZ.com now and then!
Long may the debate rage!
Emma

You forgot the part about breast hanging out of sleepwear, and panties in a bind!

Mmm, now I'm really getting hot! ;)
I'll bet my wife is at home right now, in her torn PJs and sweats, dirty old sneakers and God knows what. And here I am, stuck at work. Rats!

Morning, Emma.
If I have a chip on my shoulder, I am unaware of it. Do I fight personal demons everyday? Yes, of course - the same as you, and everyone else. Do I have times when I am not my best? Of course. I am no different, no better or worse, than anyone else - male or female. Do I have self doubts? Likely more than the average person, but that is being worked on, and conquered slowly but conclusively.
I am me. I am a woman, happy as such; I do not want to be a man. I am not subversive, nor am I out to "build polarity" between genders. And as for "singlehandedly mounting some sort of feminist skydiving movement", I am too busy mounting the personal "Michele get out the damn door" movement to worry about some sort of large, uninteresting feministic movement that has already occurred (in the '70's).
I have an opinion. It differs from other people's opinions. So what? I see things in a different way than you do. O.K., so what? Does it mean that as a stong, independent, outspoken, intelligent, articulate woman who says what she thinks, does that somehow translate into being a subversive feminist? Perhaps for you; not for me. I do not believe in the omnipotence of males, nor do I believe in the omnipotence of females. I believe in the balance of both, to work together in their different roles, with their different capabilities, with their uniqueness and individuality.
As for "ugly chicks", who am I to determine who is ugly and who is not? Beauty, to me, is not measured by perfect face, perfect figure, etc. It is other than (that), more than (that); my ability to appreciate beuaty encompasses far more than one's physical features. And I have seen physically beautiful people transformed into the ugliest creatures when their heart is revealed. I look for more than the immediacy of physical beauty. And that, Emma, is where I have a huge disagreement with some other people. Let me find beauty where it shows, let me be open to beauty under the surface, let me search for it and find it as I may.
If I took something defensively when you didn't, better for you. Points out perhaps there's something I should work on someday. Not today. Likely not tomorrow, and before you point a finger at me about my supposed and assumed defensiveness, look a little deeper into the situation. Perhaps, if you were to walk a mile in my shoes, you may see things from a different perspective. Perhaps not.
I have no interest in "smash(ing) the patriarchy" here or elsewhere. Nothing needs be smashed. If you find me venomous, then stop replying to my posts. If you find my posts full of anger, then stop reading them.
I appreciate your opinion. I do not hold it as my own. And, as for my participation, the "debate" ends with me.
(btw, I like what the phallic power can do for me.......:$)
Thanks for sharing.

Dearest Emma
I can't believe you jumped in Michelle's stuff like that or any one in this sport. You jumpers in the real world need to check out the DZ's in less fortunate countries and really experience the bound and the friendship practised there. You might appreciate the jumper sitting beside you that much more.
Girls.... we are only on this planet for so little time.
I will cover you both for a days jumping when I make it back end of this year if you promise to get along.
Hugs to the both of ya!
Vman
