howdy people
I had a freakin awesome time in Florida! I don't hate RW anymore, I got to jump in 6, 7 and 8 ways and it was fun (but I still did mostly sit-flying though)! I made 22 jumps altogether (and stood up 21 of them under my new Hornet '150 - what an awesome canopy ride! handles and flares awesomely!). I was at Sebastian most of the time - what a friendly DZ! A group of us went to the Skyventure windtunnel and got some coaching (that thing rocks, it really helped me a LOT). Went to a great July 4th party, we all went bowling Friday night, nice BBQ Saturday night, just lots of beers and laughs generally.
The only part of my holiday that sucked was coming back and finding out my company has laid off ANOTHER 70 people (not me) and that the land-lady wants her flat back and has given us a month's notice.
Anyway, nice to be back.

Good to have you back dude. Glad the new canopy is working out well, what about the rest of the rig?

I hate you. Not really. Actually yes, I do. ;)
If Ric ever answers his f*(^ing phone I'm going to do my best to convince him we should go to Perris in September instead of Empuriabrava.
Langar at the w/e? I think I'm gonna head down on Friday morning, stay Friday night and maybe Saturday too. Now I'm no longer living in Nottingham it's about a 3 hour drive, what an arse!
Catch you later mate,
Gus

The tunnel was a blast (I actually settled down by the second day..I really hate heights). Did you meet Ed? I took him out at the door...big guy couldn't handle little ol' me! Did you do the SkyCoaster? If not you should have.

Hey Skreamer, glad u had a good time! This wind-tunnel - is it scary? Do you shit yourself and is it very very difficult? I'd like to have a go sometime, maybe next year but am a bit scared about being crap and boucing off the walls in a very public environment!

Welcome back, Skreamer!
We had MikeD on here a while ago, who had been silent for the last couple of months. But I think we chased him away again with all the shit we gave him about Scotsmen & sheep buggery! :D BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Hi Chuck
Actually I bombed Lyle Presse in the wind-tunnel! He came in to help me with my body position and I totally took him out! I know it was only in the wind-tunnel and he didn't have 281 skydivers around him, but I am still taking full credit for bombing him! :)Another funny incident was me seeing one of the Otter pilots going for a tandem ride as passenger with Lyle. I asked him if he had ever done one before. Bill Morrissey then told me that yes he had done one or two before...;) (Lyle was cross-training as a Strong tandem master).
I'll tell you one thing I noticed about American skydivers generally (and Canadian in Lyle's case) - the really experienced guys are always willing to help you and don't ever look down on you for being a low-timer (obviously there will be exceptions, but they would be dicks whatever sport they were in).
Will
PS thanks for all the advice on canopy control - now I actually look forward to landings!

Emma,
The tunnel is a blast for learning. I can now do a decent mantis position and turns with both arms and knees. If you are afraid of heights (I am) then it is scary at first. If you can get over that then the flying is easy. I really don't think there is anyway to get hurt in there especially if you wear knee and elbow pads. I took my coach out and we just laughed as we hit the bottom and fley back up so no harm, no foul.
I would recommend it for anyone wanting to work on skills. I say several PD Blue guys in there doing formations. AMAZING to watch. I'm taking my kids there later this year just so they can see how it is to fly.

Hey guys
I will be at Langar this Saturday (I'm taking some friends up to do tandems), but have to shoot back early (working Saturday night). Marc, I was bowling in the 2nd last lane on Friday night, I was the limping one generally taking the piss, who were you bowling with?
I have decided to try some other DZs in the UK (closer to London), so I am going to try Weston and Hinton soon (Emma, you have been warned).
Oh yes, that thank you in my last post for the canopy advice was for Chuck - thanks man, I appreciated the comprehensive replies I got to all my questions (and I'm sorry for saying you were being stalked by gay lurkers with questionable taste, I am sure ALL gays find you attractive... hee hee)
later
