what42 0 #7 June 6, 2001 Yes this is real. It's been talked about in the news for about a month now. I didn't know they'd released a final schedule of who was getting paid when though. It'll be nice getting a little extra in August.Wesley--I want to fly!

GeekStreak 0 #9 June 6, 2001 I think it has to do with Dubya's tax bill getting passed.1111,GeekStreak
what42 0 #10 June 6, 2001 All part of the tax cut. They (congress and Bush) decided to make it retroactive to 2000 which means that everyone gets a little back. Click here to read a CNN article about the tax rebate Wesley--I want to fly!

PalmettoTiger 1 #12 June 6, 2001 I was stoked about getting yet another refund, until I remembered that last year, Jack + Shit = my total income. So whatever I paid in taxes, I got it all back in my original federal refund. But, on the bright side, I got my state refund back today - a whopping $73!! Might not sound like much, but that's 3 jumps if I rent goggles, helmet, altimeter, and jumpsuit (none of which I have at the moment). ...or I could use the money to buy the first 3 used and jump in baggy clothes! Merrick 0 #14 June 7, 2001 Yeah, I saw on the news this morning where Oklahoma is one of the states that's going to tax this refund!!! Isn't there a law against double taxation, or some such?!?? What Bullsh*t!"Grab the grass, it's the bounce that kills!"Merrick
GeekStreak 0 #15 June 7, 2001 You two need to move south a few miles to Texas. No state income taxes ... just watch out for the virus (Pammi) 1111,GeekStreak
PalmettoTiger 1 #16 June 8, 2001 No, the deal is that your federal taxes are deducted from your income - your state doesn't tax you on the money you pay in federal taxes. So unless the federal gov't is GIVING you tax money, it's a great deal compared to the other states. Unfortunately, the federal gov't is giving you tax money. So the amount you are legally allowed to deduct has fallen - since you can now spend that money on something other than the IRS, Oklahoma treats it as normal income.I know it's raw that your state taxes go up as a result of a federal refund, but next April you can lord it over all of us who pay state taxes on the federal tax dollars we never have a chance to play with!Blues, squares,PTiger*insert witty sig here*
