SpeedRacer 1 #1 May 1, 2001 I'm considering visiting Skydive Cross Keys this month, maybe this weekend or next. Anyone jump there? Is there a cheap place to stay around there? Or maybe I'll just bring my tent I don't know...Speed RacerBrew Skies
PalmettoTiger 1 #2 May 1, 2001 Stacy not only jumps there, but she is the webmaster, er, webmistress, for Cross Keys as well as one of the manifest employees. Froggie also jumps there. Check with either of those two and I'm sure you'll get the answers you need.Blues, squares,PTiger
froggie 0 #3 May 2, 2001 speedracer, did ya get my message? In any case, im guessing that you did. Hopefully Jimbo will be back sometime soon. Jimbo, where are ya man? have those damned ohio-ans got ya all tied up? :) (dont get all defensive on me wingi lol) But anyway, its me, stacy, jimbo, fruce, and a few others too! Come down this weekend. If i were you i wouldnt bother with the whole getting a motel room. there are lots of motels in the area, but not worth it when you can just camp out. Bring yo tent, and a bar o soap, weve got showers :) By the way, this will be your first time jumping at Xkeys.... BEER! hehe. hey, lemme know when youre heading out here. I wanna make sure that we meet up, things get kinda hectic and busy here on the weekends. Dont wanna have to be paging "speedracer" all day :) lolkelly
froggie 0 #4 May 2, 2001 oh! almost forgot! weve got some fellow "fire walkers" for ya to hang out with. this weekend we actually had people dancing in the fire, before running out of it. Not me, but our bartenders were getting kinda crazy lol. So make sure you bring some old sneakers, so that after they get burned we can hang em up in the tiki bar with the charcolled hat and pair of kicks from this weekend. :)
SpeedRacer 1 #5 May 2, 2001 Thanks for answering, froggie! I'd really love to meet you all! Maybe we can get dove to come up there too, she's practically on my way up 95.Yeah, I'll probably just bring my tent. I considered the hotel b/c there was this girl from Philadelphia I was hoping to, uh, er, date, but it looks like that's not going to happen..So I will probably just pitch a tent LOL.I will try to be there around noon-ish on Saturday. Is there any kind of Cinco de Mayo celebration going on there this weekend? If there isn't there oughta be....As for firewalking, well, I really only did that that one time, but I think I have an old pair of sneakers somewhere. Might as well continue the tradition.Green lights, Blue Skies, Black BeerSpeed RacerBrew Skies
froggie 0 #6 May 2, 2001 yeah, good idea. Elisa should come down too, its the same distance to her regular dz. so there was a girl from philly that didnt work out huh? is she a skydiver? okay, when you get there just look for me! have you ever been to Xkeys before? in any case, when you park youre gonna prolly walk around the side and go in thru the hanger.. my office is right across from the window that says "student manifest" My little window looks over the porch :) but im hardley ever in there. You can find me running around, scaring first time tandem students :) lol. And stacy will be working manifest. So make sure you find one of us early! Ill be looking for ya around 1:30ish-everybody gets lost when they come to Xkeys :) lol. See you saturday! kelly
Stacy 0 #7 May 2, 2001 yepo i'll definitely be around this weekend. hopefully more organized stuff like last weekend! had some kickin' jumps! Beware of the Super Swoopin' Ice Tea at the bar....Stacyhttp://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
Danhole 0 #8 May 2, 2001 Cross Keys is the place to jump. Don't let stacy scare you. Its a cool place. Should be a great weekend. leave the firewalking to the chiky-chicks.danhole
froggie 0 #9 May 2, 2001 danhole, will you be out there this weekend? if so make sure you say hello... preferrably before the beer light comes on cause chances are i wont remember much after.. lol
froggie 0 #10 May 2, 2001 oh yeah, speedracer, if you need some more detailed directions (landmarks etc etc) just lemme know. Ive been in the area for 20 years now, i know it pretty well.
SpeedRacer 1 #11 May 3, 2001 Oh, I just heard from dove. She can't make it, she has to work. Yes I could use directions. Also, dove told me that I'll wind up paying $12 in tolls roundtrip. That's almost a jump ticket! Is there any way to avoid them without going miles out of the way?I found out that Cross keys is roughly the same distance from my home as West Point. But I might not visit very often if I have to pay tolls. Plus I've been stuck in traffic jams caused by those f&&*king tollbooths.Does anyone in the military out there have access to a very large tank? If so, would you mind taking a run up I-95, through Delaware, & over the New Jersey Turnpike & taking out those damn tollbooths once and for all? We'd really appreciate it. Thanks!Speed RacerBrew Skies
froggie 0 #12 May 3, 2001 speedracer,i have no idea if theres a way to avoid the tolls. dont travel out of state that often. Sorry you cant make it dove! but next time. okay? cool. Speedracer. i will see you on saturday. goign out to the dz early tomorrow and then we have a staff meeting so i prolly wont make it home. see you saturday!kelly
dove 0 #13 May 4, 2001 Froggie & Speed - Thanks for the invite, but as Speedracer already mentioned, I have to work. I am SO bummed I didn't get to meet you last time, Froggie. I got a slammer of a headache and didn't feel so hot. You know I must be sick if I leave the DZ early - that never happens! I came down with an obnoxious flu and I was sick again last weekend so I am aching to jump! I have all of next week off so I will jump like a maniac then. I don't know if I'll make it back to Cross Keys - maybe for a boogie. But $12 in tolls is almost a jump ticket and plus the club membership fee - Yikes! But I'd come up for a big event. You and Stacy ever think about venturing south to some other DZs just for fun? Anyhow, have fun up there and don't burn off all you toes! They can be invaluable when landing! Cheers!Elisa
SpeedRacer 1 #14 May 4, 2001 Hey Froggie,Looks like we got some crappy weather moving in to your area on Saturday, so I may wimp out on you. I will be heading south to go to my home DZ in West Point VA. They're doing 8-way scrambles this weekend, regardless of experience level. I only have 46 jumps, so I'll be making a complete ass of myself up there. Plus they're having a Cinco de Mayo party, involving FREE BEER AND MARGARITAS!!! YEEEEHAW!!! Divadiver, if you're out there, feel free to get in on this!!But here's the deal, I'm taking the week after next off, and my plan is to drive up & visit family in Boston. I could leave on Saturday May 12th & stop & jump at Cross Keys on the way up. Party with you all (I beleive you said you weren't going to show up til evening on May 12th?) and crash there Sat. night & continue up to Boston on Sunday morning (bright & early??! Yeah right!)And maybe dove can join us next weekend. Speed RacerBrew Skies
weid14 0 #15 May 4, 2001 just a quick note -- if you come up 295 (vs the NJ turnpike) you don't have to pay any NJ tolls. you still have to pay all the bridge tolls and I-95 Maryland tolls though (I'm assuming you're coming up from from the baltimore area).
SpeedRacer 1 #16 May 4, 2001 Thanks weid!Still hoping some Good Samritan would cruise up I-95 with a tank and clear all that s&*^t out of there, from Baltimore to NYC. You'd be a hero! Do we have anyone in the US Army here, who would like to take up this mission to further the cause of Truth, Justice, and the American Way,(not to mention faster & cheaper skydiving roadtrips).Speed RacerBrew Skies
Danhole 0 #17 May 4, 2001 Looks like rain Saturday. I'll be there Sunday for day a fun and sun.See ya there.

froggie 0 #22 May 7, 2001 dave, yup. i was talking about seths rig. So that was you? Thanks for the help. weid14 0 #23 May 7, 2001 Hey, when we're there we want to give the packers as much business as possible! of course my wallet is very light after last weekend. looks like bologna the rest of this week! (eating is over rated anyway) I'd rather jump.Dave (Jetstream -- inside center)
Stacy 0 #24 May 8, 2001 exactly! that's what I say. why pay utilities when you can jump? must be a cross keys philosophy. =c) but really thank you guys for taking care of manifest. =c) ya know we don't have coffee filters back there... we had to use napkins... =c)Stacyhttp://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
SkySlut 0 #25 May 8, 2001 Any of you guys know a girl named Lauren Demme...I believe that she jumps at Xkeys. She is only 17 and her parents jump too. Do you guys know her? I was thinking about heading down that way for a weekend or something this summer. Can you guys tell her I said 'hi'.Thanks-Slut"I'll jump anything!"
