hackish 8 #1 December 19, 2014 Was packing up a Javelin today and I see that Sunpath has released a new interactive manual. It has great photos and even video clips integrated. I think they've raised the bar significantly. Now their E-Fold thing... Can anyone explain what they're doing with the lines? It really looks like the lines are being folded into the flake. -Michael
betzilla 56 #2 December 22, 2014 That manual IS pretty sweet. Thanks for the heads up that it exists :) I'm not sure what you're seeing that looks unusual, although I'm not sure what the "E" in "E-fold" is all about. That just looks like nice, clean flaking to me.
pchapman 279 #3 December 22, 2014 Did they actually change anything significant with the packing? (Other than stowing the skinny ends of the reserve pilot chute that hung out from the side of the bottom reserve flap. For years in newer manuals they had forgotten to include instructions on stowing it, so an FAA rigger would have had to leave the pilot chute hanging out in the breeze, if they followed instructions as they were legally supposed to.) I've only skimmed the new manual so far. Looks like plenty of added tips and techniques for fine tuning the pack job.
