HUPRA 0 #1 December 22, 2014 I am considering buying a second-hand canopy which has had the topskin replaced on its centre cell. I will definitely be test jumping the canopy before buying, however I've never heard of this before and was curious to know if this is very common and if there is anything that I should look out for with a repair such as this? Thanks
monkycndo 0 #2 December 22, 2014 The center/centre cell takes the abuse from packing, so has more wear than the rest of the canopy. Full cell topskin replacement is neither uncommon or common. It takes a fair bit of work. If the rest of the canopy is in good shape, the cost to replace the center cell would be worth it. Have your rigger give it a good inspection.50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity
SkyMagilla 0 #3 December 23, 2014 What does the previous owner say about WHY the top skin on the center cell was replaced? If it tore from age and sunlight degradation, then perhaps the rest of the cells aren't far behind. How many jumps on the canopy? Have the rigger "thumb test" the remaining fabric to check it's strength.
HUPRA 0 #4 December 23, 2014 Okay thanks for the replies! The canopy has around 800 jumps on it and had been jumped in a humid area where the topskin was taking a bit of wear from people lying on it packing (the canopy is white)
