Las Vegas Skydiving?

Recommended Posts

My wife and I are going to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon this summer and, of course, I was planning on bringing my rig with me. Until I looked in the DZ directory and could not find a listing for a DZ in the Las Vegas area. There is a vertical wind tunnel. But, unless the USPA listing is out of date, no DZ. The closest one seems to be in the Phoenix, AZ area about 250 miles away. Does this strike anyone else besides me as odd? I mean, where the hell do the Flying Elvises practice? Wouldn't you think that the one place in the world where you would definitely be able to find a DZ would be in Vegas, with so many people living on the edge to begin with? I dunno - if anyone has any more info on this, I would greatly appreciate it - Thanks. JP

We went to Vegas last month, and saw people jumping while we were on our way to see the Hoover Dam. It was about 40 minutes away from the strip. I know a friend of mine went out there to jump, so I'll try to find out more for you.

I've heard the same thing about SDLV -- that they treat "regular" skydivers like crap. The Gravity Zone is run by the same folks who run the Flyaway wind tunnel in Vegas (which I enthusiastically recommend if you're there).
