Hey Josh.....are you talking about Bridge Day in WV?? Just wondering. I live about 5 hr drive from it and know some people who are going to go to it and plan on doing it myself when I get my license and some experience.

I definitely want to do Bridge Day. Is it possible to jimmy up your normal skydiving rig to jump it? Or does everyone there jump a BASE rig? I know Liz will never let me spring for a BASE rig.

Most people I know that just want to jump the bridge will rig up their skydiving rig for it. You have to put another slider on for a faster opening (mesh, bikini, etc.) and usually a bigger pilot chute. From what I have heard you don't use a deployment bag, you pack the chute like a reserve right inside the main container, but this may be wrong. I hope to jump the bridge with a bunch of people from my DZ this year or next. Maybe I'll see you there.

Mountainman, yeah, that’s the one I meant. I’m along way from having the experience necessary to do it, but as soon as I do, I’m there! I have a little more than a 5 hr drive, though, coming from Minnesota (not like that will stop me!) There were a few in the video that looked like they were using skydiving rigs. Hey, speaking of videos, anybody seen BaseClimb? Man, those guys must have balls that would put an elephant to shame. If you’ve never seen it, get it.

Hey, I'm planning on going to the bridge this year. I live in Upper michigan, so I have about the same drive as you. My girlfriend won't go with me so I'm looking for some people to carpool with. You interested? BTW, you can use a normal rig with a few adjustments( mesh slider, bigger pilotchute), it just has to be approved by the officials before you can jump it. Peace.

I posted on this several times earlier but its something that still intrests me so im always researching it.

Hey guys...me again. I don't know much about that jump, but the guy that I know who is going to jump it has only 49 jumps last time I heard (last weekend). I don't feel that is enough, but hey, who am I to say?? Anyway, is there a website devoted to this or one with more info?? If I'm not in Mexico, I might be interested in catching a ride with you and letting you stay at my place for a night if you wanted (there and back). I live in Lima, OH (my house is about 2 miles from I-75 exit 125 and 127). Let me know! I would love to go and watch!!!

Sounds great. If you want, you can find all the info you need at www.afn.org/skydive/base they tell you exactly how to modify a skydiving rig for base jumping. If you need a rig, I can probably bring one down. Peace.

Hey Yooper.....I don't think I'll be jumping this year. By then, I'll probably only have about 8 or 9 jumps by then. Hehe....probably though in the coming years, I'll be doing that. My wife also wants to jump the River when we get good enough. Until then, that would be sweet to just watch. Hang out with some .comers. Did anyone get to jump angel falls? I myself did not but a buddy did and said it was unbelievabe. I could only imagine.

Holy crap, Angel Falls. That was on the video too. If I jump that, then I honestly don’t know what I would do with the rest of my life. I mean, how do you top that? If you have an answer to that, then please share.

I'm by no means an expert as I only have 4 base jumps but:
I've seen people just almost total skydiving rigs with just mesh slider and 42 in pc. They even kept the dbag on! I would do that though. You can find old base rigs for around $200 without a canopy. If you can find someone to lend you something big you'd be set and safe. That was how I did it.

My boyfriend and I realized over the weekend that our cat, Zoe, is a base jumper.

Do you mean the one where the guy guys jumped from teh Trango Tower in Pakistan? if so i haven't seen the video but i've seen a program about it on Discovery and it was awesome!
