wildblue 7 #1 April 11, 2001 Ok, it's supposed to be nice weather this weekend (a rare thing around here) The only problem is I work on Saturday, which leaves Sunday... Easter Sunday. My girlfriend wants me to go to "brunch" with her family, and she wants to go to Easter services with my family.... I'm thinkin' "Go jumpin'!" I doubt God will strike me down, I'm sure he understands. My family doesn't really care that much... so do I go jump and piss the girlfriend off? What do you think? I just saw a bird fly 2 circles past my office window.. just now as I was typing this. I'll take that as a sign ;)
flyboy62000 0 #2 April 11, 2001 That sucks man, I have to go to dinner with my girlfriend's family on sunday which won't be that bad. Except for the fact her mom probably hates me for throwing her daughter out of an airplane. I can't wait until my girlfriend and I show them her video. Can't you get out of work on Saturday to jump, surely it will be worth it. If you do get to come out on Saturday or Sunday I will be there come jump with me. If you skip work on Saturday to jump I'll buy you one.Blue Skies,Adam
Pammi 0 #3 April 11, 2001 I hear ya...I'm going up to visit my family this weekend also 4 hours away. It's Mom's birthday, Brother's birthday AND Easter..so no way I'll be getting out of it :) Really sucks cuz my next jump is my official-it's-about-friggin-time-graduation-jump!! I have to wait another whole week for it! *sigh* Pammi
skymama 37 #4 April 11, 2001 I hear you, brother! Last year I skipped the relative Easter celebration 4 hours away and stayed home with my immediate family. We had a great day-after the morning hunt for eggs,I did a jump and then we all went to the beach. But, I never heard the end of it all year of how I went skydiving instead of joining everyone else. The guilt trips won out this year. Two days where I don't have to work my weekend job and instead of jumping, I'm heading 4 hours away to see the relatives! mountainman 0 #5 April 11, 2001 Flyboy is offering a free jump. I think that THAT is a sign! Just tell work that you are headed out of town and you need to be with your "family" on Saturday to celebrate Easter (you don't have to tell them it's your skydiving family). Good luck getting out of it!Brandon and Laurahttp://home.woh.rr.com/brandonandlaura/a work in progress
fruce 0 #6 April 11, 2001 Well..... you only have one life. Every nice day that goes by where you can't jump into that deep blue sky, is one less day of pure joy. How many days in your entire life will you have to be that happy? Every one missed is lost forever. Don't worry about the girlfriend..... that you can replace (I feel the flame)peacefrucehttp://www.fruce.com
Greg 0 #7 April 11, 2001 I actually lucked out (kind of). My daughter is going to be with the x wife this year for all the holidays, including this Easter. So it looks like me and the easter bunny are going skydiving!! Of course I will miss spending Easter weekend with my daughter, she is 4 now and holidays are always a blast at that age, but I get holidays next year. On the bright side, I dont have to try to be creative for the next few days trying to eat a bunch of hard boiled eggs and I get to jump with no guilt!! I just hope she has as much fun as I do.I can see it now, she says "OMG!! ITS A CHOCOLATE BUNNY WOOOOOOHOOOO!! READY SET GO!! lolBlue ones!!Greg A-37958
freefallfreak 0 #8 April 11, 2001 Greg,Don't pass up the hard boiled eggs, man...They could get ya a really good seat on the jump plane...depends on how many ya eat and just when, but if done at the right time, people will give ya all the space ya need...(snicker)...FFF
Cacophony 0 #9 April 11, 2001 I'm right there with you guys. I am going to my girlfriends grandma's house all day Easter. Supposedly her family is quite weird, but thats what everyone says about their own family. I don't think they could be any worse than all of my skydiving family. Thats a tough one to beat. Fortunately for me Saturday is supposed to be excellent and I have the whole day to jump!! Its gonna be awesome. Last weekend was way to windy to jump.Safe landings,Alex D-23912

If I don't show up, the class just gets cancelled, and I don't get paid :(On the upside, it's getting dark later, and I might be able to let the class go early. Hmmm..... of course that would just lead to a night of drinking and telling tales around the fire all night, then 'accidently' getting on the first load Sunday morning... I'm leaning towards fruce's way of thinking.....

Greg 0 #12 April 11, 2001 QuoteDon't pass up the hard boiled eggs, man...They could get ya a really good seat on the jump plane...Great point, I might just consider it. Especially after last weekend, I think paybacks are in order!!! I think someone had the "courage" to eat pickled pigs feet and hard boiled eggs before thier jump last weekend, and your right, I gave everyone on the load plenty of room (couldnt tell who delt it, and no one claimed it).In some cases, it does actually make for faster exits, unless the heartless individual who deals it, climbs out and breaths clean air for a bit while everyone else is suffering in the plane!! lol. I actually had someone in front of me before exit turn around and tell me "sorry" and for a split seccond, I wondered, why, but I know now. lolBlue ones!!Greg A-37958
fruce 0 #13 April 11, 2001 Wildblue...... your name says it all. miked10270 0 #16 April 11, 2001 Hey there,Personally I don't see the problem with jumping over Easter.Just lean on your (new found) religious beliefs -- you want to spend the day getting "Closer to God"... About 12,000ft closer.Mike D10270.

SpeedRacer 1 #18 April 11, 2001 I think skydiving is a very appropriate way to celebrate Easter. What could more accurately represent death & resurrection than throwing yourself out of a plane & then saving yourself with your parachute?Speed Racer"Blue Skies, Red eyes, Sore thighs!" Pammi 0 #19 April 11, 2001 LOL Matt! My mom doesn't hate Merrick for it...she knows it's all me :) This is prob'ly one of the least stupid things I've ever done and when I met Merrick she actually told *me* "don't f*** it up!" Sheesh. Love ya too Mom. Haha!Pam
Head 0 #20 April 11, 2001 Hey,All very true statements and I'd rather be jumping myself. But God knows I ignore my family for jumping enough during the rest of the year and especially the jump season! So I'm doing the good girl thing and seeing my family.Head

Iflyme 0 #24 April 12, 2001 If you believe in a deity, that's your business. Still, you should get out and jump if the weather is good because if you're a believer, then you'll be spending eternity with your god anyway... as for the family? Send them a video of you jumping to watch while they are eating dinner!
