SpeedRacer 1 #1 April 6, 2001 Well, we've all noticed that skydivers love beer. Unfortunately many of the skydivers at my DZ tend to drink yellow, watered-down, crap beer. But I tend to like homebrews & rich ales, microbrews, etc. I also like to brew my own beer, which makes me a big hit at family gatherings, etc.So I was wondering if there are any other homebrewers out there? I've been brewing for a few years now. I make a stout that's very close to Guinness and a delicious dry-hopped pale ale. Anyone else into homebrewing??Speed Racer"Blue Skies, Red eyes, Sore thighs!" fruce 0 #2 April 6, 2001 Well, ummm, I don’t actually brew it. It kinda happens naturally…….. yeah, that’s it. Sort of like, a tomato plant….. yeah, like that. So when ya want some, you ummm…., pick the “fruit” off of the plant. Yup, that’s what ya do, then you put it in a brown paper bag to let it……ummm, ripen……yeah, ripen! Then, when it’s ready, you take it out of the bag and cut it up into smaller pieces…… right, …..oh! and make sure that you take all of the seeds out…… cause, ummmm, they don’t taste too good……yeah that’s it. Then you place it in the bowl and “cook” it……….. you will know when it’s done when you start to feel real hungry!!!!! frucehttp://www.fruce.com
ramon 0 #3 April 6, 2001 Best one I've ever made was a belgian ale with extra amber malt put in for kick and some dextrose.I've never made a stout, but it is definitely on my "do list".Just moved here, I have to clean all my stuff and get my CO2 canister (keg ...baby!) charged.bloo skiesramon

Maybe it’s my self deprecating sense of humor? Could it be my insightful commentary? Iflyme 0 #8 April 7, 2001 Speedy, where I live, we have a bunch of "U-Brews". Little shops that are really micro-breweries. They have dozens of recipies and a variety of styles. My favorite is a place called "Bedford Brewing". Its a full mash brewery. The process takes 1 and 1/2 hours, and you bottle your beer 2 weeks later. I'm into the pale ales, myself. It's all MUCH better than ANY beer you can buy. That stuff passed off to the unsuspecting public by the big breweries shouldn't even be called beer - it should be called "malt liquor" (haven't I made this speech before???) ... and whoever said they put dextrose in their beer, why I otta slap you!Frank

MarkF 0 #10 April 7, 2001 but you're only talking about FIZZY drinks. What about a good Metheglyn, or Mead to everyone else bar Mike...:-) Good traditional Druid recipes usually run to about 13 or 14% alchohol and contain enough esters 'n stuff to cause a Force 9 hangover. Sometimes even a Force 10... To all you brewers get hold of a good recipe and have at it. Be warned though that the resulting brew goes down a treat especially if served nice and cold. After a couple of bottles you'll be feeling no pain and probably shouldn't jump the next day. After a bit more the hangover will ensure that you don't jumop the next day...:-)The best recpie that I've found, so far, comes from "The Closet of Sir Kenelme Digbie Opened". If yoy want the recipe e-mail me....OorooMark F...Hmmmmmm it seems that the lcoal Goodyear shop is open late tonight (Saturday 22:15). Some, probably testosterone poisoned, idiot was just doing a bit of the old Circle Work in the ute out in the street. Shredded a read tyre to the BANG point... Hmmmmm Straaaange. (doin' circle work on bitumen I mean...)
