VivaHeadDown 0 #1 April 6, 2001 Hi, I'm new to the posts, but have about 224 jumps (mostly freefly, ok, all but AFF and two or three RW). I've lived my life (Skydiving portion) through ERAU skydiving club who jumps out at Deland. It's like my family and home, but now I'm graduating from ERAU, and moving back to my original home of Southern California (the waves in florida just aren't surfable after living in San Diego). I need a place to continue. So much of skydiving is the people you jump with, and I need new people. Can anybody fill me in on the skydiving scene in SoCal. Been to Perris a couple times for FlyBoyz Film Festivals, and loved that, but don't know much else. Anything you guys know will help. Thanks.
PLFXpert 0 #2 April 6, 2001 VivaHD,When are you leaving? I'm trying to find out if I'll get a chance to meet you in Deland before you go. I'll be out there next weekend and most every weekend after that (unless I'm jumping in Palatka or Sebastian.) It would be cool to meet you.As for the waves, you just need a fun-shapeHope to see you before you go!Much love and blue skies,Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
Cacophony 0 #3 April 6, 2001 Hey, you have the exact same number of jumps I have, 224. Thats awesome. I don't know much about California though. Safe landings,Alex D-23912
Grogs 0 #4 April 6, 2001 I think El Snore and Perris are both right around there, so you shouldn't have a problem finding a good DZ in the area. I know a lot of the posters here jump at those 2 Drop Zones too. They should be able to give you some good advice about them.
skybytch 273 #5 April 6, 2001 From San Diego you are within 2 hours drive of about five different dz's. I've only jumped at Perris, Elsinore and Hemet so I don't know anything about the others. Perris and Elsinore both have hoppin' freefly scenes and some really cool people. So when ya comin' home? pull and flare, lisa
VivaHeadDown 0 #6 April 6, 2001 I'm going out tomorrow (saturday). On a sad note, a friend of mine here at school who's been jumping for a year or so died in a motorcycle accident a week ago. Tomorrow we are planning a memorial jump and sending the videos to his family. Other than that, I'm saving for the 4/20 boogie. I leave May 1st, and that'll be my last BIG weekend out there. Are you going to make it to the Boogie?
