Recommended Posts

Looking for work in Web Design. Know of anyone hiring. I'm thinking of contracting out. Working on a portfolio now.
Also thinking of getting into video work but need to get experience first. I'm willing to go where ever the work takes me. Just me and my Jomobile and looooooooooots of clothes.

Very cool website. I just have an interactive resume setup and I need to make some changes. I had another website on my laptop but lost everything while cleaning up some bad clusters.
I got alot of work ahead of me.

Damn, the audio on your site nearly gave me a heart attack!
Umm, I'm not sure a flash movie is such a good idea for your resume. It is not interactive either and no prospective employer is going to sit through that little movie. If you want work as a web designer, you will have to prove you know more than a little flash as well. So, maybe try and incorporate some other features on your site, eg Java, also nothing wrong with a good old fashioned frame or table. Plus you can get a decent URL for next to nothing, so steer clear of geocities, homestead etc. because those don't create a very proffesional image. But you do have a solid technical background and good certs, so I am sure you will be fine.

Skreamer, flash has been used for portfolios forever, get out of the dark ages-LOL-
example: http://www.2advanced.com
Most companies would like to see at le ast 5 URLS that you have done hardcore, unless it's an entry level type deal.
Get yourself a domain name, and a virtual server, and work on that portfolio site of yours. Freeservers add an air of unprofessionalism that will be hard to overcome in the eye of a prospective employer. Virtual servers are not really that expensive, unless you want a dedicated one:)
Dont give up! I'm still a student myself, but not for web design, for real OOP-LOL
Wanna brush up on those flash skills?

Dan the days of getting a decent design job by relying on Macromedia's products are OVER - deal with it. A little flash is OK, but too much can get very annoying very quickly. I reckon Java and/or Jini would be really good to know. As for the dark ages, it still amazes me how many people never bother learning raw HTML, just use editors and then wonder why their trouble-shooting skills are worth shit. Anyway, I could never do web-design professionally, I'm only creative as far as talking shit is concerned...;)

I agree with you 500% on the html editors, and the talkin BS- lmfao-
I agr3ee flash has lost some of its popularity among many people over the past year or two, but its useability has dramitically increased! Lots of time you probably even see flash and dont even know it. Its not just for flashy noisy and more often than not bad useage. Its ability to be integrated into many aspects of design will always keep flash around, and now that you can use it in conjuction with many web development aspects (php, MySql databases, CGI, Coldfusion etc) and with the much anticipated release of Flash 6 you can bet its ability to remain around for a long time will only be enhanced.
anyway-this is a skydiving website-LOL

Grrr... that sunny site crashed my Linux Netscape browser.
I'm an admin/coder, do php, perl, build the webservers, create farms and it is a BITCH teaching html editor junkies web standards.
The worst is when you have to integrate php into something a designer whipped up and it's impossible to hand edit without breaking the whole page(like when an editor uses spans to format content instead of tables).

I know it's a skydiving website but it sure helps to get feedback so I can brush up my skills and hopefully get work soon so I can continue to skydive.
Thanks for the info, he does anybody know of any forums or chat lines for web designers...developers that drink lots of beer, burn couches and fire walk? ;))))
