StumpJump 0 #1 January 21, 2012 Hey all, I've just created a place for all us amputee skydivers to connect on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/AmpedSkydiving Hopefully we can use this to connect with one another, share tips, tricks, and stories. I'm a RBKA (right below knee amputee) since 2003 from a skiing accident. I grew up around skydiving, but finally just started in 2011. It took a little time to figure out free fall and suspension (leg fell off once at 9k), but I have things dialed in now it seems. Come share your thoughts, strategies or ask questions. Please go to the FB page, and click "like", then share it with your friends. BillyVance 34 #2 January 25, 2012 Cool... Since you're new here, have you done a search on "Pieces Of Eight"? It's a loose group of amputee skydivers that have been around for decades. Some of them are on here. LPrimavera 0 #3 January 26, 2012 Greetings all, I have a unique situation in that I am a bilateral below-knee amputee, from trauma some years ago. I have just begun my AFF training. Also a factor is my light weight; I am 5'1", weighing 98lbs. I am physically fit, and quite active (for example, I use running legs for recreation). My AFF 1 went well, and I am set for 2 & 3 Friday. Previous to AFF1, Ive jumped tandem twice. I suppose this is just an introduction, as well as an invitation for advice and camaraderie. -LPM

Cpl_Ipod 0 #5 February 6, 2012 Awesome!! I am a novice BKA jumper. I was wounded in Iraq in 2005. I have been spending a lot of my time building an outreach program for disabled veterans to become pilots using hand-rudder-controls. Therefore I have put jumping to the backburner. However, I wish to get back in it asap. Here is a video of our pilot program event. Please pass it around. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9xo4eYqYKY"Humans, who have the remarkable ability to learn from the mistakes of others; are unique in their apparent refusal to do so." -Douglas Adams
StumpJump 0 #6 March 15, 2012 Very Cool Laura! Great to have you here. What DZ are you jumping at?http://AmpedSkydiving.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AmpedSkydiving "Experience is what you get when you were expecting something else."
StumpJump 0 #7 March 15, 2012 Hey Billy, Ya, thanks, I have looked for Pieces of 8. "Loose group" describes it well, double entendre and all. They exist as a group when more than one is talking to another. Beyond that, there's an early website from when Al Gore was still building the internet. That's about it. I've yet to figure out a way to connect with them. I'm sure I will in time.http://AmpedSkydiving.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AmpedSkydiving "Experience is what you get when you were expecting something else."
