RichM 0 #1 December 23, 2013 Hi there, my first post in this forum. A friend of mine lost the use of his right arm in an accident although it is still attached. He did a tandem and loved it but always thought he couldn't take it up. I know it must be possible, a rig can be modded it can be deployed with the left, and an SOS can be used for cutaway & reserve. I'm guessing a big canopy can be flared one handed, but how would you steer with one arm? Thanks to kind responses to my original post in the wrong forum (doh!) I know about http://www.perfectjumps.com/ and that Pepperell has some experience. He's interested in taking it up so all thoughts and suggestions gratefully received. Typing in the query "Amputee" brought these results: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=search_results&search_forum=all&search_string=amputee%20&sb=score&mh=25 Lots of good info, there. Good Luck.

potatoman 0 #4 May 6, 2014 I would love to see this happen!!! Things I would think of to consider.. Riser length, shortened. Connectivity between both toggles Connectivity of toggles on reserve ride Strong arm strength Lots more leg input (Saves arm strength for final flare) I have tried a single arm on my main(Considered dislocated shoulder scenario). Did not work so well. Risers are a bit long for one arm to reach both sides. Went into a spin after undoing one side. And power in the arm... I believe the reserve risers are normally a bit shorter though. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. weldingninja41 14 #5 November 10, 2014 Tommy Ferguson, Losy his arm in an high wind landing in 2011. He actually lost the use of his left arm and later had it amputated. He is one of the instructors at High SKy Parachute club in Canon City colorado. He is one of my instructors and is an excellent diver with only one arm. He learned to control his flight with only his right arm. He is excellent at it. so It is very possible to learn to do this.
