rhino 0 #1 June 8, 2004 This is eerie,,,,, This is something to think about! Since America is typically represented by an eagle. Saddam and Bin Laden should have read up on their Muslim passages...The following verse is from the Quran, (the Islamic Bible) Quran (9:11) -- For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace. Note the verse number!!!!!)

Note the verse number!!!!!) Sorry, but in my copy of the Quran, Sura 9, verse 11 actually says exactly what Snopes claims it says... Also, the style of that passage you posted is a bit weird for Quran. Seems as if the writer assumed all religious texts are written in much the same way as the Bible. And cleansing the land of Allah/much rejoicing? That's like the Bible saying there would come a time when God will be forgotten and people will live more happily and freely. Kinda defeats the purpose of the book.
panzwami 0 #7 June 9, 2004 yeah, it seems like nowadays the prudent course of action is to check with Snopes before posting something like that. It's pretty much assured that if you don't, the next post will be from someone who did.
