peacefuljeffrey 0 #1 July 15, 2004 I don't know what disposable income I'll have come September 13, when the "asault-weapons ban" expires, and all that "banned" stuff becomes legal to manufacture and sell and buy again, but I'm already workin' on a wish-list. I want an AR-10 (.308 cal) with all the doodads that my Match Target HBAR cannot have. I want a bunch of full-cap magazines for my Glock 27 (what do the 22s hold, fifteen or thirteen rounds?) and some of the very high cap 30-someodd rounders as well What do you plan to get that you can't legally get until the ban sunsets? And if you're anti-gun, keep outta this. I'm not looking for a thread hijack telling us why having this stuff is wrong or bad. Make your own thread if you wanna discuss that. I'm almost certain you wouldn't want that since it would cut both ways. I think it's fair to say that it is implied that I am making a request, here. All I'm asking for is the respect that anyone should be willing to give to honor the thread subject. I did not post: "Give us your thoughts on whether it's bad or good that people will soon be able to buy high capacity magazines again," so why should they want to come into this thread, whose purpose is to ask gun owners what they are interested in buying, when they could start an ANTI-gun thread of their OWN if they so desire? This thread is different from those that just throw out a subject for discussion and invite naysayers. I'm asking naysayers to leave this one alone. --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Balls 0 #5 July 15, 2004 A bunch of hi-caps for my Glock 19 (already have 5, need some more though) If I have the money an AR 15 (.223) would be nice too.---------------------------------------- ....so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat." I like the AR design, but I want a more potent caliber, so I may try to sell my current post-ban AR for the .308 AR-10. There are sooo many optional configurations of it, though. Many are flat-topped for scopes, which I don't really want. I'll have some decision making to do. This all follows the discovery I made that there is an inexpensive, municipal outdoor range on the way to Skydive Sebastian. I haven't taken my AR-15 or my Mariner out to fire since before I moved to Florida in 1997!! Blue skies, --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" quade 4 #7 July 15, 2004 Ok, I just wanted to make sure that everyone knew they certainly could contribute anything they wanted to as long as it follows the rules. Me . . . I got nothin'. Never felt the need for a gun before, so if the sun were to set on the AWB it certainly wouldn't send me off to the gun store.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
beowulf 1 #8 July 15, 2004 couple of high cap mags for my Glock 22 would be all that I would want. Less reloading at the range.
Jib 0 #9 July 15, 2004 I think a Norinco. Which? Don't care! But, probably a stamped AK-47. peacefuljeffrey 0 #10 July 15, 2004 QuoteAnyone know if you will be able to modify a post-ban mini-14? That's a really good question. I hadn't thought of it, but I would like to add the flash suppressor and bayonet lug to my post-ban AR-15... I wonder if it's a simple thing to put add-ons on... --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

peacefuljeffrey 0 #13 July 15, 2004 Quote I'm thinking of buying a Birdman suit. I guess that technically that is a fair answer to my question. I will probably buy some artichokes, a few London Broils to make into beef jerky, and some matzoh meal to make into matzoh meal pancakes. But these are not things I cannot legally buy before the expiration of the "assault weapons ban." --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" JohnRich 4 #14 July 15, 2004 QuoteWhat are you gonna buy when the AWB expires? Nothing. I already bought them proactively before the ban went into effect, back in 1993 or so. That included a pre-ban AR-15 with the evil flash suppressor on the end of the barrel, and a Smith & Wesson 9 mm handgun with the evil 15-round magazines. Bill Clinton made me want to buy more guns than any other President. Since existing ownership of the banned guns was grandfathered-in as legal to continue to own, there wasn't a problem with that. You just gotta get 'em before the law takes effect.

mr2mk1g 10 #19 July 15, 2004 QuoteI think it's fair to say that it is implied that I am making a request, here. Now... hmm... probably an SPAS 15. That would show those clay pigeons.... damn wait - I can already own one. Cool - guess I'll start saving.... they're about a grand. Er.... ok, if gun legislation were relaxed or I lived in the US I'd have to go retro. I've always liked WWII weaponry and used to own a deactivated BREN gun. A very beautiful weapon, it would be nice to fire one. I guess it would fire much like my old SMLE No.4 though. Perhaps a Sterling MkIII too - before the post-war refinements, a nice big heavy lump of metal with a side magazine. Or maybe an MP38 or 40, that would be a nice piece of history.
