Guest #1 July 29, 2004 Certain Dems are having a hissy-fit over the release of these photos of John Kerry visiting NASA. Those wacky, madcap Dems are accusing NASA of "dirty tricks" for releasing pictures of Kerry wearing a clean-room suit. He got a tour of the Space Shuttle overhaul & repair facility. Everybody who works there has to wear a "bunny suit" to keep crud out of the ships and out of the lungs of Shuttle crews. I fail to understand how releasing photos of Kerry wearing a clean-room suit constitutes "dirty tricks". I for one am jealous of him. Furthermore, aside from one pose that looks a little silly, he looks like anybody else doing that job. What are they so afraid of? I've seen comparisons made to Michael "Tank Boy" Dukakis, and how ridiculous he looked. Why are they so f*ing paranoid that they have to accuse NASA of "leaking" pictures??? mh ."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." PhillyKev 0 #4 July 29, 2004 I was going to say what a ridiculous thing to be upset about. Who cares if that picture is in the public eye. Then I saw Tuna's response and remembered that republican attackers would jump an any little thing, no matter how benign and irrelevant to try and knock Kerry down a peg. You ask why they are paranoid? It's not paranoia if they're really out to get you.

Well, I'd be jealous of Dukakis, too. Not many civilians get to ride around in a tank. Of course, this picture essentially ended his run for the white house. I think it's clear, and relatively obvious that the Kerry campaign is afraid of exactly the same thing. For good reason, too. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. turtlespeed 220 #6 July 29, 2004 My question is this - if there were supposed to be NO PICTURES taken - why is he smiling and posing? Was there a hidden camera? Did he ask the person with the camera to not TAKE the pictures? "Hmmm - Well, it sounded like a good idea at the time - I didn't think the pictures would make me look so stupid though." - KerryI'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
PhillyKev 0 #7 July 29, 2004 Read again. It said they didn't know there were going to be pictuers when he put on the suit and started the tour. When someone whips out a camera, what is he supposed to do, go Sean Penn on his ass?

JohnRich 4 #9 July 29, 2004 QuoteIt said they didn't know there were going to be pictuers when he put on the suit and started the tour. For John Kerry to go anywhere in public and say that he believes that no pictures are to be taken, is just more of his BS. There are cameras everywhere, and they're pointed at him, because he's running for the most powerful position in the world. He knows that, and should expect that. To say otherwise, is just another one of his flip-flop lies.

You ask why they are paranoid? It's not paranoia if they're really out to get you. The reason the Kerry camp is worried is because the Dukakis crowd said "the tank picture ended his presidential bid." They are looking for an excuse since they aren't getting the normal VP announcement and convention poll bumps. Frankly, Dukakis' ideas ended his bid, the picture was just an symptom of the problem. This is the same with John Kerry. He is a 4-term senator, and he still can't figure out this whole media thingy, even when the media is a willing accomplice. He is surrounding himself with dupes, leftover Clintonistas who don't have near the top cover machine they had in the previous administration. 95% of the bad press Kerry gets is self-inflicted, and the rest I'll grant you is probably republicans with an ax to grind. Welcome to US politics...all's fair. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

PhillyKev 0 #14 July 29, 2004 Dean's bid was sabotaged by one speech and how it appeared to tv viewers as opposed to a live audience. I wish there were a way to remove mass media entirely from the political process while still being able to communicate the candidates ideas, record, and character to the public. jazzjumper 0 #17 July 29, 2004 QuoteDean's bid was sabotaged by one speech (snip). So, it's the speech's fault, not Dean's? Don't you mean Dean sabotaged himself with his little scream? Dean stepped on his air hose, and the media was just reporting the gaff (albeit over and over and over and ....) Dean is awesome, he's real, he's hilarious, and he's too short to be president. I wouldn't vote for him because of what his ideals are, but you gotta love a guy who is himself, regardless of what that self might be. Conservative Offensive tactic numbers 1 through 852. When fighting a losing battle constantly bring up completely benign and irrelevant topics about the opposition in an effort to sway opinion against him based on criteris that have zero relevance to the election or office being sought.
