Velcro risers/toggles

Does anyone still make those? I love mine, but they're worn to shit, don't have hard housings and need to be replaced.

I don't know about risers, but toggles you could get from any of the BASE gear manufacturers; Apex, Adrenaline et al.

It takes me about 5 minutes to replace the Velcro on toggles,
and maybe another 10 minutes for Velcro on the risers too.

A rigger should not charge you very much for the work.

Brand new risers cost about $ 120. They would come with new style toggles, and hard inserts. Risers do have a life span and need to be replaced.

Life is short ... jump often.

Sorry I wasn't clear. The velcro and toggles are fine, it seems to have been replaced at some point. The risers themselves are worn (especially where the harness ring loads the ty-17 webbing, and the white loop).

Are paragear D224 velcro risers? I like how secure velcro is, hence why I'm looking for the out-of-fashion risers.

I like it too, that is why I will always use Velcro on my high performance canopy. On the big canopies a premature toggle release is not so intense.

By the way, since Velcro is OK with you, you can make some really nice and secure methods of stowing the excess steering lines with Velcro too, and if you design it well, the hook Velcro will not catch on the lines.

Here is how I do it with standard risers and Dacron line.

You can pretty well ask any manufacturer to build velcro toggles/risers. Most reserves use velcro toggles so its not like they don't have the material or haven't built them before.

CRW teams mostly use velcro toggles. So simply detail it when ordering. The manufacturer will probably question it as its not as common on modern gear to verify thats what you really want.

Show up at your rigger. He should know how to act.

Just my 2 cents:
if you state that important parts of your lifesaving devices are "worn to shit", maybe a general inspection or a newer gear should be considered.

But seriously... Paragear item D224 is a pair of velcro mini risers. *toggles not included -- you will need to purchase those separately (maybe the ones you have will fit). Item # is D226.

Item m3345 is the hard riser housing pair. They're super easy to install -- in fact if you order all this stuff together from the Para Gear website, and ask nicely in the 'comments' box as you check out, I'll install the housings for you before we ship.

My thoughts were:
140 jumps, A-license.
buying and installing risers ..
(you know what that means with 3rings, cutaway cables, connectors,...)

Sorry if i got you wrong, but in my pov, risers are a part of my lifesaving device, called rig .. ( > hyperbole?)

if you feel confident in replacing risers with all the stuff that belongs to that, okay.
Then you are smarter than the most guys I know with a couple of hundred jumps.
How does it come that the risers are in that shape ..?

I still would suggest to ask a rigger ... at least for a cross-check...

Yep, and some of us got our rigger ticket before having 50 jumps. For those who ask I make a point out of directing a jumper through the process so they are capable of doing it themselves.

It isn't uncommon here that low time jumpers buy someone elses beat up gear. In fact I just inspected a rig sold to a low time jumper and determined that in fact the risers were worn beyond their safe usefulness.

I agree Peek. When I had my risers built for my tri 135 I asked for velcro keepers for the toggles and the brake excess. I am mind full when setting my brakes and keep the lines off the hook,and will have the same done for my cross fire ll 119 when they are ready for risers.
When I replaced my lowers I had put 900 jumps on them and they were not frayed it was just time.
