One man and 3 young men/youths barge into a house with aluminum bats and brutally murder 6 people to the extent that most of the victims could not be identified right away. A group of people coming into my house...well, I'm going to keep shooting until I'm totally out of ammo or they're dead. If I'm out of ammo and still in danger...there are other ways. I'm not trying to say what the victims did or didn't do, it was more of a commentary of what steps I've felt it necissary to take due to the state of the society we live in. There's a reason why my loaded weapon is roughly 8" from my right hand right now and I've spent a lot of time and money getting the training I need for cqb. Give us the points why a chopped down shotgun with a folding stock and pistol grip would be a bad choice. What weapon would you use? mattjw916 2 #12 August 9, 2004 Personally I think a pump-action shotgun would be a better choice since everyone KNOWS what they sound like when chambering a round and that will usually be deterrant enough to a would-be assailant. My choice: short barrel AR-15 with 30 round magazine. First round in the mag is tracer, I consider that their warning shot. As for why I use an AR vs. a shotgun or med-large cal pistol... familiarity with the weapon coming from many years in the Army and the fact that high-velocity .223 caliber is very effective against people and will defeat almost all body armor at close range. As an added bonus, for my neighbors, .223 dissipates most of its energy on impact with walls and will be less likely to kill someone in an adjacent room vs. a .45 auto round for example. Just my $0.02... of course I have only fired about a MILLION rounds of ammo through nearly every modern class of weapons, and some antiques too. I can hit within an 5" radios from 200 yards. and from sub 10 yards it is not as difficult as you think. I have a small place Where I live I do not need to worry about neighbors.
