captain1 0 #1 August 9, 2004 It never ceases to amaze, shock and outrage me. One man and 3 young men/youths barge into a house with aluminum bats and brutally murder 6 people to the extent that most of the victims could not be identified right away. The whole incident happened over an XBOX and some clothes.

PLFXpert 0 #3 August 9, 2004 I hear you. We watched that "live on the scene". As if my day wasn't depressing enough... watching the news is like a chore; I really don't want to b/c it just upsets me, but it just has to be done.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. AggieDave 6 #4 August 9, 2004 Someone comes to my house, breaks in with baseball bats intent on killing/hurting/stealing...well, they're in for a surprise to say the least. A group of people coming into my house...well, I'm going to keep shooting until I'm totally out of ammo or they're dead. If I'm out of ammo and still in danger...there are other ways. Eitherway, they're gonna have to really really want to do me harm to continue.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #6 August 9, 2004 QuoteSure they had the same philosophy. Monday Morning QBing is great. You're sure huh? Thanks for the report from beyond the grave. I'm not trying to say what the victims did or didn't do, it was more of a commentary of what steps I've felt it necissary to take due to the state of the society we live in. There's a reason why my loaded weapon is roughly 8" from my right hand right now and I've spent a lot of time and money getting the training I need for cqb. Lets see, this thread will be moved to the Corner in...5...4..3...2...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." captain1 0 #7 August 9, 2004 I agree if you can get to it in time. A short barrel automatic 12 gauge is extremely effective in close quarter confrontations of this type.
tunaplanet 0 #8 August 9, 2004 QuoteA short barrel automatic 12 gauge is extremely effective in close quarter confrontations of this type. Very poor choice for a CQC weapon. Give us the points why a chopped down shotgun with a folding stock and pistol grip would be a bad choice. What weapon would you use? Tell us the entire setup, light choice, ammo choice, everything, since you're obviously a grand wizard when it comes to home defense.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." captain1 0 #10 August 9, 2004 Oh my, I will probably catch hell for saying this but by looking at the assailants it would not surprise me if it was FUBU.
PhillyKev 0 #11 August 9, 2004 QuoteGive us the points why a chopped down shotgun with a folding stock and pistol grip would be a bad choice. Because virtually no police tactical units or military special forces use shotguns for that purpose. Oh wait, yes they do. Ummm, because shot guns are knows for their long range accuracy and muzzle velocity. Ummm....because they look evil and should be banned. Yeah...that's it!!! mattjw916 2 #12 August 9, 2004 Personally I think a pump-action shotgun would be a better choice since everyone KNOWS what they sound like when chambering a round and that will usually be deterrant enough to a would-be assailant. My choice: short barrel AR-15 with 30 round magazine. First round in the mag is tracer, I consider that their warning shot. As for why I use an AR vs. a shotgun or med-large cal pistol... familiarity with the weapon coming from many years in the Army and the fact that high-velocity .223 caliber is very effective against people and will defeat almost all body armor at close range. As an added bonus, for my neighbors, .223 dissipates most of its energy on impact with walls and will be less likely to kill someone in an adjacent room vs. a .45 auto round for example. Just my $0.02... of course I have only fired about a MILLION rounds of ammo through nearly every modern class of weapons, and some antiques too. captain1 0 #13 August 9, 2004 Yea, yea, yea. Tell that to my brother who is an officer in the SF for over 20 years now. He is Green beret, ODA, Ranger and spook.
Ron 10 #14 August 9, 2004 Quote.223 caliber is very effective against people and will defeat almost all body armor at close range Uh, what crappy body armor do you base this on? We shot RBA with 5.56 and it bounced off. 7.62 however went right through. And if guys are comming after you with RBA....Well its not your local pissed off robber wanting an X box. I'd rather have a med caliber pistol, or a shotgun. However, I do have a 5.56 as well."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
Darius11 12 #15 August 9, 2004 First choice AK47 40 round clip 20 in it at all times with 2nd clip loaded and ready. Pistol grip Semi-auto. Fuck the warning shot if you enter my house with intent to hurt or steal. If I am in a good mood I’ll shot you in the leg first. Most likely that won't happen. I usually wake up pissed.I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
Zenister 0 #16 August 9, 2004 wonders if you've ever thought about about how far a 7.62 round goes through residental construction?? that not a very realistic weapon for home defense at all.... have you ever fired an AK with a pistol grip? leg first?? one to many action flicks....____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. Darius11 12 #17 August 9, 2004 Yes I have fired an Ak47 many times. If I have time I won't need to use the pistol grip I could bring it up to my shoulder. I can hit within an 5" radios from 200 yards. and from sub 10 yards it is not as difficult as you think. I have a small place Where I live I do not need to worry about neighbors. And as how far it goas. I have found conflicting information but 1500 Meters is about rightI'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
