Ever Kill An Animal?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys-
I was just curious to see if there are any skydivers who have gone hunting before...and no, I am not talking about for chicks! :D I myself have shot 4 deer and even though I don't hunt anymore, (at least not for animals!), I want to see if any skydivers are hunters as well. My prediction is most skydivers have never intentionally killed an animal.

i really hate to say this but one of my cats got after a bat in the tree and completely took off one of its wings.

so...i did what i felt i had to do.
I killed my cat :P

but no really instead of letting it go on in pain bleeding all over the place i ....helped the bat speed up the process of "passing away"
like i said i'm not to proud of it because i hate killing animals but there was really nothing that could be done.

I had a bunny named Priscilla when I was really little and I lived in PA at the time and it was winter and very cold, but little Priscilla lived in the Garage when it was still chilly but ok for her to live. I thought I was doing her a favor and would dump water on her every day thinking I was bathing her. Well, she froze to death cause she was wet all the time. I cried for days.............

I killed my dog one night when I was hungry and felt like eating some hot dogs.

No, but seriously, I don't hunt, but we did put our dog to sleep when he became so old he couldn't function anymore. However we did give him the best week of his life, feeding him steaks every night and treating him like a king.

I used to hunt MOST animals. I have hunted ducks, dove, quail, Grouse, turkeys, squirrel, coyote, fox, Mule Deer, White tail deer, black bears, and Elk. Never got around to going Moose hunting although I have seen many. I just never put in for a tag. However, in the past few years I have been hunting people as a full time job. I haven't gone hunting for game since Nov 2001. I shot a fairly large White Tail buck in my parent's pasture. Since then........I haven't really had the want to go hunting. I used to love it but I think man makes a far more challenging quarry. Although.....I have seen FAR smarter elk than some of the people I chase day to day. :D

[:/] Wow, I had forgotten all about it until I read your post, but when I was 8 or 9 my brother and I found an injured frog near our house. We kept it as a pet while it was healing and then we decided it was time to let him go again. Sadly the day before we were going to let him go we accidently forgot to move it from the garage to the backyard like we did every day. We went to feed it that night and it had been in the direct sunlight behind the garage window all day and had actually baked.

We were destroyed, but if I remember correctly Mom got us through that hard moment by helping us build a popsicle stick coffin to bury the little guy in the backyard followed by Blizzards from Dairy Queen. I mean, a Blizzard (specifically one with M&M's and Butterfinger) can fix just about any 9 year old's problem, right?

When I was growing up, there were dozens of pigeons and squirrels in our yard. This was because of the redneck next door putting out all manner of stale breads and seed for a "feeder." The pigeons were shitting all over our deck, and the squirrels were eating our garden.

My father gave me a pellet gun and a 500 pack of pellets. Told me that 22 pumps on it was the velocity of a .22LR

14 pigeons, 9 squirrels....>:(:):P

Along these same lines, when I was about 3 we had a tabby cat with a white belly and he would lay on the drive way in the sun on his back. I would hear adults comment about how he looked like he was sunbathing. So, I didn't want him to burn and covered him in sunscreen. He didn't die but was sick as hell after he licked it all off.

Yep.....when I was stationed at Ft. Bragg I "owned" 9 HMMV's. They were parked under an open fronted overhang garage. The pigeons just LOVED to make nests on the beams. Of course they shit non-stop all over my trucks, generators, and battery cabinets. That is until I decided to launch some "Sniper" training with a Daisy Powerline 880. At first it was easy because the pigeons were too dumb to hide. After I whacked a few they got smarter. It eventually got to the point where I was crawling under vehicles and really having to put a "stalk" on them. My distance record was 36 yards. Got that one from under a HMMV halfway down the row and he was sitting on the roof of the wash shed. Damn fine piece of marksmanship if you ask me. B| Especially for using a Daisy pellet rifle from Wal-Mart.

Yes of course, as I am a licened hunter, I do so wherever it's possible to me. Except certain animals (such like elephant or big cats: never. Bear: I'm afraid of!), I shoot all I'm allowed to (and I've got to pay for).

Why do you believe skydivers never intentionally kill animals? Could you explain a little bit closer?

Thx

I had to kill a chicken for dinner in Africa one night; they gave me "the knife" which was this dull serrated thing. I tried to get my knife which was a lot sharper but Mary elbowed me and said 'use their knife, they have a thing about that knife.' I've never felt so sorry for an animal as that chicken.
