AggieDave 6 #3 September 9, 2004 I blame John Kerry for the recent onslaught of hurricanes going through FL. This is revenge for the voters being too stupid in the state to properly operate the voting punch cards. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #5 September 9, 2004 So what you're saying is the Swift Boat Veterns are doing this to bring up the validity of their arguement about Kerry's war "record?"--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." tunaplanet 0 #6 September 9, 2004 Exactly. I heard Linda Ronstandt, Bette Middler and Barbara Streisand are investigating this matter further. Forty-two

billvon 2,998 #9 September 9, 2004 Yep. We're almost at the next change in opposition to climate change. So far we've had: 1. There's no such thing as climate change! That's ridiculous! 2. Well, the climate may be changing, but we have nothing to do with it. 3. We may have had _something_ to do with it, but such changes are gradual and natural. 4. Well, maybe we're forcing the next change to come along faster, but maybe the changes will be good. I fear the next one is going to be: 5. Yeah, we're getting hurt pretty badly by the new weather patterns, but who could have known this would happen?

It just happens that 2 major hurricanes have hit the us in as many weeks. We are currently at only 9 named storms though. An active year maybe closer to 12. Don't be surprized next year if there are hardly any since it is an El Nino pattern next year. Elnino typically creates too much shear in the Carribian and atlantic therefore making it difficult for tropical development. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty

Is that far off? 3 more in the remainder doesn't seem hard to achieve. With the frequency that these billion dollar disasters hit the Southeastern seaboard, I'm not sure why people are afraid of eathquakes in California. storm1977 0 #12 September 9, 2004 No June is the beginning, Last week in Aug -> First week in Sept is the Peak. Nov is the end. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty

It is not just the Southeast. It is the entire gulf and eastern seaboard. The NE has been lucky since 91. The fact is, of the 15 most devistaing Storms, NY was directly affected by 5 of them. Again though the odds are slim. The last reall strong storm to hit the US was Andrew, and that was 12 years ago .... Plenty of time to forget. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
