jazzjumper 0 #1 September 13, 2004 How can a guy with a such a stellar war and Senate record like Kerry lose to an incumbant President during a time of illegitimate (yeah, right) war? Easy, he opens his mouth. Kerry: I'll 'Take on the Terrorists' with Gun Control Who needs to make crap up with a candidate like this? Edited to add: When Kerry posts the text of this speech on his website, I'll post the link here for verification. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit! I say it over and over again; the Dems have money, can't they hire a few decent strategists and consultants? I'll look for a full text of the speech and try to post it out here. See, that is my point. This guy has never sponsored no co-sponsored any major legislation (the function of a Senator.) So it's because: 1. He hasn't tried. 2. He has tried but couldn't get enough people to support him to get it to the floor of the Senate. 3. He has tried, but no one wants to be near him because he isn't doing anything substantial (unproven.) Anyone want to chime in on the important committees he has chaired, or been on (and showed up more than 50% of the time?) Careful, the memory division will fact check all responses. But if you have assault weapons (as defined under the act that recently expired) then he will sign the bill to take them away. Wait a minute, the previous ban did nothing of the sort (take weapons away.) It simply put heavy limitations on purchasing new ones. There was no new bill or new extension that I know of. If you have a link to this (that states the government would take away weapons from current owners) I'd like to see it. Your comment is just short of alarmist... but considering the source, it doesn't surprise me. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit! happythoughts 0 #14 September 13, 2004 Seems like the easiest way to keep guns out of the hands of terrorists is to make it illegal to kill people or do terrorist stuff. We should pass a law, that would stop them. It certainly stops other criminals.

It does nothing of the sort. If you own it, you own it. Frankly...I think gun control is a crock and a violation of the constitution. Just enforce the current laws. The two major parties - hell, ALL parties, will always pick the most 'electable' candidate. Then, when the gun-registration provision of Patriot II comes along, he can claim "I said all along I support control of assault weapons!" Wasn't the renewal porked onto a bill to protect gun manufacturers from lawsuits where the product worked exactly as functioned? Yes. Well, they knew that they could never allow their tactic of extortionist attacks on legal gun manufacturers to be outlawed, so they poisoned the Protection of Legal Commerce in Firearms Act with an amendment to not only extend but drastically augment the so-called "asault weapons ban." My best friend, who is unabashedly liberal, called me today to tell me that he hardly ever disagrees with Randi Rhoads -- the shrill, shrieking ultraliberal knownothing on AM radio out of West Palm Beach, FL -- but that he was hearing a blast of misinformation from her as she railed against the sunsetting of the ban. He said she was talking about how "our streets will now be flooded with automatic assault weapons that can fire 30 rounds in 2 seconds." He was angered by the way she had to be lying in order to support the ban. This is what liberals are all about, most particularly when it comes to the abject failure that is gun control: LIE and MISINFORM about what gun control actually does, and what guns actually do -- because if you tell the TRUTH, there is no logical and sustainable reason to support gun control.
