Fighting Terrorism With Gun Control

Recommended Posts

How can a guy with a such a stellar war and Senate record like Kerry lose to an incumbant President during a time of illegitimate (yeah, right) war? Easy, he opens his mouth.

Kerry: I'll 'Take on the Terrorists' with Gun Control

Who needs to make crap up with a candidate like this? :D:D

Edited to add: When Kerry posts the text of this speech on his website, I'll post the link here for verification.

Uhhh, call me nutty, but isn't the source a little biased?

Still, if true and reported in context; it has to be one of the DUMBER things the man has said. I say it over and over again; the Dems have money, can't they hire a few decent strategists and consultants?

Yes, Newsmax is conservative. However, their stories are pretty rock solid. I'll look for a full text of the speech and try to post it out here.

See, that is my point. This guy has never sponsored no co-sponsored any major legislation (the function of a Senator.) So it's because:

1. He hasn't tried.
2. He has tried but couldn't get enough people to support him to get it to the floor of the Senate.
3. He has tried, but no one wants to be near him because he isn't doing anything substantial (unproven.)

Anyone want to chime in on the important committees he has chaired, or been on (and showed up more than 50% of the time?) Careful, the memory division will fact check all responses.

Fair enough. Biased sources can still accurately report stories, to be sure. I think that point is lost on people sometimes.

> But did he say he would do it to curb terrorism?

No. So that's good news - he will take away your weapons for no reason at all!

WIll he take away my weapons?

I don't know what sort of weapons you have. But if you have assault weapons (as defined under the act that recently expired) then he will sign the bill to take them away.

Wait a minute, the previous ban did nothing of the sort (take weapons away.) It simply put heavy limitations on purchasing new ones. There was no new bill or new extension that I know of. If you have a link to this (that states the government would take away weapons from current owners) I'd like to see it. Your comment is just short of alarmist... but considering the source, it doesn't surprise me.

Take away the right to buy them. As I've heard several pro-gun people express it exactly that way, I used the same language,

Ah, blame it on someone else, eh? I was going by your exact quote. It does nothing of the sort. If you own it, you own it.

Frankly...I think gun control is a crock and a violation of the constitution. Just enforce the current laws.

Bush's men he hired to head the smear campaign against Kerry have been extremely bored. They haven't had to do anything yet. Everytime they come up with a great slam against Flipper he opens his mouth and speaks...then they have to go back to the drawing boards.

Yep! Bush said he'd sign the assault weapons ban as well.

Although Kerry's outspokenness in favor of gun control seriously worries me, Bush's attempt to ride the fence really pisses me off. Bush said he'd sign a piece of legislation nobody expected to get through congress and then refused speak out in favor of the legislation. He's trying to please both sides of a hotly divided issue.

Of course. If you never take a stand on something, no one can attack you on it. Then, when the gun-registration provision of Patriot II comes along, he can claim "I said all along I support control of assault weapons!"

So, my choices are a president who seldom picks a side or a president who keeps picking sides I disagree with. Screw that--I'm voting for Badnarik. Maybe if third party candidates start making a stronger showing, the two major parties will start choosing the BEST candidates, rather than the most "electable" candidates.

The two major parties - hell, ALL parties, will always pick the most 'electable' candidate. It's unfortunate in this case (and in the past Presidential election) that the best candidate wasn't chosen. :S

Wasn't the renewal porked onto a bill to protect gun manufacturers from lawsuits where the product worked exactly as functioned?

Yes. Well, they knew that they could never allow their tactic of extortionist attacks on legal gun manufacturers to be outlawed, so they poisoned the Protection of Legal Commerce in Firearms Act with an amendment to not only extend but drastically augment the so-called "asault weapons ban."

My best friend, who is unabashedly liberal, called me today to tell me that he hardly ever disagrees with Randi Rhoads -- the shrill, shrieking ultraliberal knownothing on AM radio out of West Palm Beach, FL -- but that he was hearing a blast of misinformation from her as she railed against the sunsetting of the ban. He said she was talking about how "our streets will now be flooded with automatic assault weapons that can fire 30 rounds in 2 seconds." He was angered by the way she had to be lying in order to support the ban.

This is what liberals are all about, most particularly when it comes to the abject failure that is gun control: LIE and MISINFORM about what gun control actually does, and what guns actually do -- because if you tell the TRUTH, there is no logical and sustainable reason to support gun control.

Stop using IE and these worries go away. Save it for the relative small number of sites that are not compliant with html standards.

Why MS isn't joining everyone else in viewing the users' needs above that of the web sites puzzles me.
