Subject: Trying to understand:
I'm confused, I can't understand it. Maybe you can.
I'm trying to get all this political stuff straightened out in my head so I'll know how to vote come November. Right now, we have on guy saying one thing. Then the other guy says something else.
Who to believe. Lemme see; have I got this straight?
Clinton awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Yugoslavia - good...
Bush awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Iraq - bad...
Clinton spends 77 billion on war in Serbia - good...
Bush spends 87 billion in Iraq - bad...
Clinton imposes regime change in Serbia - good...
Bush imposes regime change in Iraq - bad...
Clinton bombs Christian Serbs on behalf of Muslim Albanian terrorists- good...
Bush liberates 25 million from a genocidal dictator - bad...
Clinton bombs Chinese embassy - good...
Bush bombs terrorist camps - bad...
Clinton commits felonies while in office - good...
Bush lands on aircraft carrier in jumpsuit - bad...
No mass graves found in Serbia - good...
No WMD found Iraq - bad...
Stock market crashes in 2000 under Clinton - good...
Economy on upswing under Bush - bad...
Clinton refuses to take custody of Bin Laden - good...
World Trade Centers fall under Bush - bad...
Clinton says Saddam has nukes - good...
Bush says Saddam has nukes - bad...
Clinton calls for regime change in Iraq - good...
Bush imposes regime change in Iraq - bad...
Terrorist training in Afghanistan under Clinton - good...
Bush destroys training camps in Afghanistan - bad...
Milosevic not yet convicted - good...
Saddam turned over for trial - bad..
Ahh, it's so confusing!
Every year an independent tax watchdog group analyzes the average tax burden on Americans, and then calculates the "Tax Freedom Day".
This is the day after which the money you earn goes to you, not government. This year, tax freedom day was April 11th. That's the earliest it has been since 1991. It's latest day ever was May 2nd, which occurred in 2000. Notice anything special about those dates?
Recently, John Kerry gave a speech in which he claimed Americans are actually paying more taxes under Bush, despite the tax cuts. He gave no explanation and provided no data for this claim.
Another interesting fact: Both George Bush and John Kerry are wealthy men. Bush owns only one home, his ranch in Texas. Kerry owns 4 mansions all worth several million dollars. (His ski resort home in Idaho is an old barn brought over from Europe in pieces. Not your average A-frame).
Bush paid $250,000 in taxes this year; Kerry paid $90,000.
Does that sound right? The man who wants to raise your taxes obviously has figured out a way to avoid paying his own.

My comments. Try not to arbitrarily post everything you receive in email. Especially when it was posted in a thread below.

Granted, I trust you guys when you said that it was posted before, although I was unable to find it, even after searching. However, I just wonder if you guys would have posted so quick if it had been an email praising the virtues of John Kerry. Just wondering.

I realize that a Bush supporter would find it difficult, :P but what you do is cut and paste something like "lemme see have I got this straight" into the "search posts" screen, and hit the "search" button. I did that and this came up:

It's worded and sent as if the person sending it actually wrote it.

It made me very angry at someone I used to just generally dislike.

Now I'm even more put off that they were so smarmy...

:P

While I do admit I do support Bush in this election, I think I do want to add that I'm not registered to either party because they both make me sick. As far as Kerry, I might actually consider voting for him, if I just knew where he stood. Not trying to joke there. He changes with the wind and I can't respect that. If it has to be the lesser of two evils, then I guess I'm in the same boat with everyone else, voting for the lesser. Just my .02.

Hate him or love him Bush is like a dog with a bone, he won't let go. I respect his determination and truly believe "he believes" his course is right.

Just make this perfectly clear for me . . . you see that as a plus?!?

I don't know about you, but I'd much rather have a guy in charge that is at least a little flexible when it comes to utilizing new information. I'd like a guy that can admit his mistakes and not simply hold onto delusional ideas that what was once thought to be right is still right even when proven wrong.

I admire his determination, unlike his opponent who has never stuck with anything long enough to see it through. And yes that determination is a plus. It is very hard to stay the path with so many trying to pick a new path for us. If everyone would respect him and his position long enough, I wonder what we all could accomplish. Delusional?? For every person who says that, there is one who says the opposite. This country is split down the middle on almost every major issue of both parties platforms.

You know the one thing that I just can't get is that the Dems are generally the party of the working man. The Repubs are generally said to be the party of the uppercrust. Then why in the world would a working man Dem pick a billionaire, and expect that billionaire to have his best interests at heart. WTF???

Why would the Dems who values 1st amendment rights in such high esteem, want to trash the 2nd amendment which got them that right in the first place?

Why would the Dems who want to abolish the death penalty, think its ok to kill babies?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Repub., but I tend to agree with them more than not on a lot of issues.

I think the Democratic party should be renamed the Parodox party. Its only fitting that John Kerry is leading that party right now.

As far as Bush, I think he's just a man. Unlike some on here, I don't immortalize him. I think he does make mistakes and could have done a lot better. What I don't see is the huge set of Parodox's that I see with Kerry. Sorry, I just don't get it, but I'm sure you guys will enlighten me.

Yes. It's called dedication and determination.

I understand the last president you guys had with those traits was Kennedy but believe it or not those exist with in leaders today...Bush being one of them.

Contrary to popular belief Kerry actually follows through on a lot of things. I'll name just one since even if I spend my time listing 100 someone here will say thats not proof of anything. :S

He created the first Earth day and assisted in setting up various grants to further the development and promotion of it. He is still actively involved in that project over 20 years after it started.

The last three coaches of the Chicago Bears have had dedication and determination. Lots of losing seasons, too. Sticking with a failed strategy is not a sign of a good leader, but an inept one.

Bush has mismanaged the war
Bush has mismanaged the aftermath of the war
Bush has failed to capture OBL
Bush has mismanaged the economy

And he just grins his stupid grin and tells us how hard it is being president (1st debate, 2004).

>I think the Democratic party should be renamed the Parodox party.

As opposed to the republican party, who:

-claim they are for smaller government, but have created the largest increase in federal spending in history.

-claim they are for fiscal responsibility, but have overseen the creation of th largest deficit ever

-claim they are for constutional protections, but decimate them with the Patriot Act

You have noticed that the democratic party has a lot of inherent contradictions, which is quite true. The republican party does too. Why? Because both parties will say whatever it takes to get elected. If the Bush campaign discovered that saying "oompa loompa oompity do" would get Bush a few more points in the polls, he'd be imitating an oompa loompa before the week was out. Same with Kerry.
