Steven Tyler fucks up the National Anthem

Recommended Posts

I played the Star Spangled Banner for high school events, and yes, most people don't know the proper way to sing or sometimes even play it...however that leaves a little room for personal expression, but not much...(I played the flute and piccolo, yeah, yeah, I was a flute player...:P...)...

I find people who sing it or "scream it" like Tyler to be annoying and I personally find the SSB to be more appealing when sung and played in a "traditional manner"...And yes, there is a "traditional manner" to the song, but obviously that has been debated...

In the end, sporting events will still hire big named singers who, even if they can't really sing, will belt out the Star Spangled Banner and get paid even when the audience and anyone at home is covering their ears and waiting for the abomination to be over with...:S[:/]B|...At least get the damned words right for crying out loud...:|...

I don't care about mmmmbops or whatever at the end of the Banner, or screaming jazz trumpet versions, or gospel versions or marching band versions or any other permutation of the national anthem as long as it is done respectfully. Screwing up the lyrics for whatever reason isn't respecting the song at all.

This isn't just true for our national anthem, but any other country's as well.

Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

I have a SNEAKING suspicion that Ashley Simpson won't be singing it anytime soon...

BaaHaaHaa!!!!!
Yeah you right!---Ashley Vanilli

Don't forget the poster child for Star-Mangled Banner controversy, Roseanne Barr July 25, 1990 tried to add her own brand of humor to the singing of the national anthem before a baseball game in San Diego. After screeching through an off-key version of the song she added some clichéd baseball humor by spitting and grabbing her crotch. The popular sit-com comedian immediately became public enemy number one. After hearing a tape of Barr, President George Bush called it "disgusting" and "a disgrace."
-and it isn't Mr. Tyler's first on May 27, 2001
Singing on Memorial Day before the start of the Indianapolis 500, Steven Tyler, lead singer of the rock group Aerosmith, angered veterans by changing the last line of the song. Instead of singing "home of the brave," Tyler sings "home of the Indianapolis 500." He apologized the next day, releasing the following statement: "I got in trouble my whole life for having a big mouth. I'm very proud to be an American and live in the home of the brave."
