I can understand that - they didn't admit to doing it for a few months afterwards. ---------------------------- WASHINGTON (CNN) -- What was once viewed as a premier presidential photo op continues to dog President Bush six months after he landed on an aircraft carrier to declare "one victory" in the war on terrorism and an end to major combat operations in Iraq. Attention turned Tuesday to a giant "Mission Accomplished" sign that stood behind Bush aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln when he gave the speech May 1. The president told reporters the sign was put up by the Navy, not the White House. "I know it was attributed somehow to some ingenious advance man from my staff -- they weren't that ingenious, by the way," the president said Tuesday. Now his statements are being parsed even further. Navy and administration sources said that though the banner was the Navy's idea, the White House actually made it. -------------------------------

pajarito 0 #30 October 26, 2004 Ok. I stand corrected if that is true. I never saw that. I only saw where the Navy claimed responsibility. Bad PR move on his part. However, the "mission" of the invasion was an unprecedented success.

See, its always obvious by the things that certain people write, whether or not they're (ex)military... Remember, my friend, the Iraqis aren't the enemy... The terrorists are the enemy. To say that Bill should join the Iraqis would place him in the category of victim, not enemy. We, as the liberators of Iraq are on the same side as the Iraqis, not on the other side. We, as the liberators of Iraq are on the same side as the Iraqis, not on the other side. You can’t derive from what I said to Bill that I believe or am stating that Iraqis in general are the enemy. See, it’s obvious by the things that certain people write, whether or not they’re prematurely jumping to conclusions and have no personal experience in the matter. Of course, the Iraqis, in general, aren’t the enemy. However, we are fighting some Iraqis who are not members of the insurgency. Remember, "my friend", those Iraqis are the “enemy” just like the insurgents or “terrorists.”
