falxori 0 #4 October 27, 2004 i can't say i would shed many tears over him but i'm very worried of what may happen if he dies. internally for palestinians where there is no one in charge and for the whole region since no matter what, israel would be somehow blamed... lets hope a more reasonable leader would rise and have the power to lead his people better O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero." Gravitymaster 0 #5 October 27, 2004 QuoteI would make a comment but unsure of the forum rules in regards to what you can say about a political leader. You gotta be kidding me.... After the onslaught of hate the Libs heap upon Bush, you aren't sure what can be said about a politician? There are some here who think Bush is a terrorist and Arafat is a freedom fighter. They are just too politically correct to say it.
pajarito 0 #6 October 28, 2004 Hope he's ready to meet Allah. I wonder if the good things he's done in his life (if any) outweighs the bad. Otherwise, in Islam, he might be in trouble. He won't be missed on my part.
tunaplanet 0 #7 October 28, 2004 Ok, fine. I hope the fucker dies within the next nanosecond. World is far better off without him. I despise that man. Forty-two
kallend 2,106 #8 October 28, 2004 QuoteOk, fine. I hope the fucker dies within the next nanosecond. World is far better off without him. I despise that man. Agreed.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
billvon 3,071 #9 October 28, 2004 >World is far better off without him. Agreed there. And dying this way, in my opinion, is a lot better than an assassination - there's no martyrdom in dying of pneumonia (or whatever it is he's sick from.) Of course the void will be filled by someone else. Let's hope it's someone who can start reducing the violence there.
Michele 1 #10 October 28, 2004 Ori, I hope a more reasonable leader takes his place, too...but is there someone "tapped" for that position? I didn't think there had been a clear hand-off, or whatever, and there may be significant infighting and "proving" of oneself before a clear leader emerges... You're in my thoughts. crotalus01 0 #11 October 28, 2004 he's better off dead. hell, there are Isrealis that like him better than the majority of Palestinians. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

jimbarry 0 #16 October 28, 2004 QuoteOf course the void will be filled by someone else. Let's hope it's someone who can start reducing the violence there. Let's hope. But unfortunately, history has shown that anytime the leader of either side of this conflict makes concessions or in any other way softens or moves to the center, they lose control of many of their own people. Or worse, get themselves put in a box. (like Rabin)
falxori 0 #17 October 28, 2004 thanks, always nice to be in your thoughts i wouldn't send flowers yet, he was thought to be dead many times in the past. Bill is right, it would be better like this but my fear is that no matter what is the cause, the result will be the same. theories about how israel had poisned him, arguements about where he should be burried (he wants to be burried right next to the temple mount) etc. sadly, it takes a very strong leader to settle and make peace (arafat could have, but didnt) and i dont see anyone who could in the near future. but we'll see... falxori 0 #18 October 28, 2004 a good summary of who he is... Yasser Arafat "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
tbrown 26 #19 October 29, 2004 Let's hope so, the guy is the a-hole of the century. (Please not, I'm criticizing a public figure and not a Forum participant.) His own people hate him and his corrupt thug friends. The guy had a real deal on the table from PM Ehud Barak, with Bill Clinton's backing and he turned it down cold - wouldn't even offer a counter proposal. THEN he orchestrated the takover, hostage holding and sustained urination in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Whether or not you're religious, the cultural significance of a church built on the supposed birthplace of Jesus Christ is enormous and he orchestrated a takeover by his asshole thugs. Who are all "studying" in Europe now (studying what, I wonder...), instead of being ass fucked in prison like they deserve. All Arafat's ever cared about is Arafat. I hope he dies and I hope it's grisly and painful for him. Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !
