Gawain 0 #1 November 4, 2004 The story is here (AP article) -- http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,137554,00.html. I think his death is at hand, and am curious about this sudden deterioration in health. I, for one, will not shed one tear for this man - a horrific figure at best. The implications for the PLO are obviously huge. I believe that more "extreme" members will take control and hope it will become less effective as a result. Hopefully, other Palestinians will observe the same thing and the peace efforts can be renewed with a new face.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Hamas & Islamic Jihad will take over, and they might make things even worse over there. Michele 1 #12 November 4, 2004 Yasser Arafat has died (edited: Per what I heard on MSNBC. They are now retracting it, but no-one seems to be sure.) Ori, you and Israel are in my thoughts. I am hoping for an immediate reconciliation, but somehow I don't think that will happen. Hang tight...stay safe. (And Gawain, how great it is to see your name here. Welcome "home!") Palestine is also in my thoughts, along with Israel. It's not a one-way street. It's a very sore and hurting part of the world, and that's spreading. And no it's not all the fault of either side. Michele 1 #20 November 4, 2004 QuotePalestine is also in my thoughts, along with Israel. It's not a one-way street. It's a very sore and hurting part of the world, and that's spreading. As it is in my thoughts. But I have to admit, I am far more in support of Israel than I am for Palestine. There is a real opportunity for peace now, but there is a greater chance for infighting and open warfare with the citizens of Israel which can really blow the whole thing up. I am hoping that sanity and peace will win out, but I am not at all confident that it will.
