crozby 0 #1 November 9, 2004 I was talking with some friends tonight about the discussions on SC an the US elections and Bush in particular. I was talking about how Bush uses religion in part to justify his policies, and they said it is Bullshit. They said the religion is just a ruse. Bush is not a real Christian. Bush is a crooked businessman. Bush authorises state sponsored murder. Bush is a drug taker. Bush drinks and drives. Up till then I thought Bush was a genuine christian. But this got me thinking. Could he be pretending to be a christian because it can't fail to increase his popularity? What do you think? Is Bush the christian his PR team make him out to be? Or is it all a cynical fabrication? PhillyKev 0 #6 November 9, 2004 I would say Bush believes he is what he is. But I think it's partly based on the fact that he is an admitted dry alcoholic and has replaced one addiction with another.
crozby 0 #7 November 9, 2004 QuoteHey and where is the 3rd option the Queen is a whore? That would mean changing the poll parameters to allow multiple selections, and I can't be arsed.
pajarito 0 #8 November 9, 2004 QuoteAw come on Paj, you are the Christian oracle around here - tell me what you think. I certainly don't consider myself at the level of "oracle." However, I believe Bush's sincerity in this matter. I believe he, like most other Christians, pray to God for guidance. That doesn't mean he has a red telephone in his office going straight to God and that he receives verbal directions on his hotline. The secular left tries to twist his open expression of faith as some sort of abnormality or that he's out of touch with most Americans. They'd be wrong as he's in the vast majority. Oh yeah and.......Option #3!
Botellines 0 #9 November 10, 2004 I am afraid that he truly believes what he sais. Scary as it is... I would feel more comfortable if he was just pretending he was a christian. Those things he sais about things that God wants him to do reminds me too much of the little voices i hear that tell me to burn things.

nacmacfeegle 0 #13 November 10, 2004 'Assertion', surely Pajarito. Back to the chase, I'd much rather he listened to God than listened to Cheney.-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Corrected above.
