Nader demands a recount...

If we wanted a true 3rd party with a chance, Libertarian would be a more likely choice.

I really wish the LIbertarian party would get a louder voice, I think it would drive the Dems/GOP into better politics.

Nah, it would just steal from one party and allow more presidents without close to a majority of votes.

If Ross Perot hadn't turned out to be crazy, he might have made a pretty big dent in the '92 election. He couldn't be coopted by the parties because he didn't actually have a platform other than being a honest to god outsider, unlike the type that claim to be ones (Clinton, Shrub).

But then the Cubans sabotaged his campaign and we're back to having the token Buchanan types on the fringe of the ballot. Nader's legacy in presidential politics will be giving a close election to Bush, nothing more.

19% of the Popular vote for a 3rd Party Candidate is a pretty big dent. Some theorists believe he cost GHWB the election.

Post election polling indicates he stole pretty evenly from the disatisified members of each major party. That so many people picked him after his crazy blowups, and his leaving the race and returning indicates shows that he was really a vote for None of the Above. Perot paid a fortune for each of those votes.
